GoPro Roll Bar Mount vs Handlebar Mount

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've said before and I'll say it again: DO NOT buy the GoPro Handlebar Mount, instead DO BUY the GoPro ROLL BAR MOUNT on this detail page if you are looking to capture footage from your handlebars.

This Roll Bar mount has larger bolts that allow you to tighten the mount more firmly. The last thing you want is for the camera to fall down and cause you to lose that killer POV you set up.

More importantly, the Roll Bar Mount is larger and has a better fitment for most handlebars on the market, both MTB and Road Bikes.

+ Use the Roll Bar Mount to find other cool Points of View (POV)

For example Mounting the roll bar mount to capture footage over the rear wheel by attaching it to my seat post is a really cool POV.

    Lock it down tight

Above pictured is the GoPro handlebar mount. ^^^^^

For most bikes, you will need a ROLL BAR Mount featured on this page instead of the GoPro Handlebar mount. (no longer available on The handlebar mount is way too small and has a problem staying in place with tapered handlebars.

I STRONGLY suggest you DO BUY this ROLL BAR MOUNT for your bike vs the Handlebar Mount.

You will also need to lock it down tight. You don't want to get a few minutes deep into that killer downhill segment you just hiked up only to find out the camera is slowly shifting down because it was too loose, especially if you put some effort into getting the perfect POV (point of view).

    Not Good for Skiing!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this to mount my GoPro on my pole, thinking it would fit. However when it came in, I went to put it on and noticed that it was way too big. Some people said they wrapped duck tape around there pole, but I found that the (GoPro handlebar mount) worked much better as it is smaller. This mount requires some tape but, I would imagine not nearly as much as the GoPro Roll Bar Mount.

    Does its job well!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Used this to attach my Hero3 to a halved ski pole. I wrapped some duck tape on the cut shaft so no one would get stabbed and to provide a more secure fit (Duck tape has some gives so the mount can be screwed a bit tighter) tied a shoelace to the mount and attached it to the pole for a bit of insurance. Mount allows for camera to hinge easily and do its job. GTS for days with this mount
