It's hard to believe that a four-inch travel bike can be as versatile and composed across widely varying geographies and riding disciplines as the 2016 Yeti ASRc X01 Complete Mountain Bike. First and foremost a blazing-fast XC rocket, the ASRc is astoundingly lightweight with its 4.2 pound high modulus carbon frame and single-pivot suspension. Add in 29 inch wheels (for medium to extra-large frames) for a bike that effortlessly rolls over trail impediments, such as roots, logs, and rocks. Smaller sizes give shorter riders increased stand-over clearance and nimble handling, courtesy of 27.5 inch wheels and shorter chainstays.
Standing in defiant protest against single-minded XC bikes, the ASRc proudly carries Yeti's downhill-crushing pedigree with its 69 degree head tube angle (for medium to extra-large frames) and 120mm of plush travel up front. These attributes give the ASRc ridiculous levels of control on rowdy downhill stretches of trail, lending it enduro-esque qualities for riders seeking more out of their lightweight, race-ready whip.
The single-pivot suspension platform enhances the bike's lightweight characteristics and stiffness, further complemented by its high-modulus carbon swing arm. Another benefit of single-pivot suspensions, they're incredibly simple to work on for racers servicing their bikes on a regular basis. The 100mm FOX Float Factory DPS shock gives riders the ability to switch between Open, Medium, and Firm modes with the simple flick of a switch. This is especially important with single-pivot suspension platforms, which benefit from the shock's lock-out capabilities during climbs and smoother sections of trail.
This exceptional build is highlighted by its XO1 1x11 drivetrain, complete with a massive 10-42t cassette for a wide range of gears needed for conquering steep, technical trails. Up front, the FOX 32 Factory fork soaks up bigger hits and small bumps with silky-smooth composure, thanks to its 120mm of terrain-gobbling travel and Kashima coating. SRAM Guide RSC brakes slow you down in a hurry when your downhill velocity goes into scary-fast territory. Rounding things out, you'll find lightweight DT Swiss XR 331 wheels laced to DT Swiss 350 hubs and wrapped with race-ready Maxxis Ikon 2.2 inch tubeless tires. Please note, the ASRc accepts up to 2.3 inch tires for riders looking to upgrade to more enduro-ready rubber.
