Could be better

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The best part of this watch is the style. It looks great, has an easy to read display, and so far has been very durable. I wear it when doing intense field work for my job as well as when exercising. I like the alarm and light features. The heat and train features seem great if you need them, but I haven't so far. The biggest con is that this watch does not a have a timer feature. I like to know how long it took me to run X miles. I have to use the train feature which constantly beeps (a necessity for that feature). If it had the timer feature, I would have given this five stars. Although I guess the description doesn't say it has this, I made the assumption it did considering the other features it has and that it is a performance watch.

Eats batteries 4 breakfast H2O resistmeh

This thing looks great and I wore it consistently for 18 months. During that time I went through two batteries, I have a Timex with the same capabilities and display that is older and has yet to need a battery. I've also had this in water a few times and the seals are inadequate. Granted I've opened it up to replace the batteries (2x) and my assembly skills may have been lacking but if the power requires this replacement rate then seal seating needs to be dumbed down for the average Joe. Looks incredible though.

the middle

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

i got this to replace my nixon newton digital that keeps breaking. the thing i love best about the newton is that the time is huge and the whole watch is minimal and only what you need. the band broke on me twice so i thought i'd give something else a try.
right off, you can see the polyurethane surrounds the whole face so it doesn't look like it will come apart in the same place my previous watch did. the plastic is slightly harder but i can get used to it. there is a lock for the strap (YES!) and the buckle is metal.
the time is still pretty big but the date is also shown on the face all the time (compared to the newton). the upgrades that this has over the newton are a good enough pay off for the minimalistic look. you can see the seconds, there is an alarm (two alarms!), and has several stopwatch modes (that's the suffer/recover/heat modes) with preset intervals. i think you can change the stopwatches to whatever time you want but i haven't figured it out or needed to figure it out yet. also, some chrono functions count up while others count down the time. like i said, i came from a very minimal watch so the multiple functions are a bit overwhelming. i often forget which timer is which but i'm sure i'll figure it out sooner or later.
other features i like: has a light, can turn the beeping off (i HATE BEEPS), can turn on 24 hour display, nice face size (i'm a lady, with a very small wrist), price is ok!, the buttons don't stick out so you have less of a chance of accidentally pressing them.
i haven't tested the waterproofness beyond dishwashing but it is supposed to be 100m resistant. i'm a little worried since my previous watches said the same thing but died after a day at the beach. i like this watch a lot so i'm not going to press my luck...
i got the seafoam green because it was on sale. i'd recommend this watch to others... maybe even get the cute burgundy one or the badass black one for myself too.
