    Claws over rough terrain.

The Vasque Women's Grand Traverse Shoe keeps your foot light and cool whether you're on a tricky approach to a multi-pitch climb or shouldering a daypack up and down hiking trails. This hiking shoe uses suede leather for durability and PU-coated mesh for ample breathability. The dual-density EVA footbed cushions your foot with every step, and the molded EVA midsole absorbs shock from off-camber, craggy surfaces.

Providing a solid foundation for day-long hikes, the shoe's Equalizer last balances performance and comfort with its fitted heel and arch support. The shoe's Vibram Ibex sole lays down serious traction with its lugged design, cruising over scree, wet slabs, and rocky trails. Essential for climbers using this shoe for approaches, the shoe's back loop easily slides onto a biner before you start your ascent.

    Fantastic Shoes

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got these for my sister because she needed shoes for hiking half dome. These are a great choice for multiple surfaces. Part of the sole has lugs for hiking on soft surfaces. The other is flat for gripping solid rock. It's a great shoe for just about anything you'll see on the trail.

I summited Utah's highest peak last month and there was a woman at the summit with a pair of these shoes. She and my sister love these shoes and so will you!

    Great Grip

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 9

I love this hiking shoe for my more basic hikes. It has a Vibram sole which is so great for grip! The shoe runs a little more narrow than I expected but has stretched a bit with wear. The best thing about this shoe for me personally is that is was nice and easy on your feet to break in.

    Grippy and Comfy

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 7

I love these shoes. So much in fact I purchased two pairs. They are grippy on trail but comfortable enough to walk in all day at work. I usually wear 6 1/2 but found the 7 to fit better. I have used them for trail hiking and mountain biking and I find them to be extremely functional and comfortable during every activity.

These shoes run pretty small. I should have gone with a full size up. With the hard toe box it doesnt give you much wiggle room for stretching. The Laces are also very short, and hard to tie anything other than a knot. However, that may be due to the fact that these shoes are not the correct size for my feet. I generally wear a size 6.5 and that is what i got, and they crunch my toes. I took them on a fairly long approach and now my big toe nails are not attached to my toes anymore. Im surprised they haven™t fallen off completely.

These shoes do great on the approach, for boulder hopping, scrambling, and sticking to the rock but they are not the best for strait up hiking. They will wreck your feet. They also dont do well when the rock is wet or muddy. They slide all over the place. They are a very stiff shoe, and very narrow. I also have a wider foot so they do not work toward my advantage in that department either.

These shoes would work great for someone with a long narrow foot as long as you size about a size up. I do love the coloring though. The shoe itself looks great. But for practicality, not my favorite cup of tea.

    Grippy, Stable, Bomber.

The durability of these shoes is awesome. They seem to last forever, no matter what you put them through.

Sizing is a little tricky. Since they are meant for rocky ascents, you want them a fitted, or snug. Typically, I'm an 8.5 or 9.0. I bought and 8.5, initially. The fit on the 8.5 was snug, but felt solid scrambling up rock. However, on the descent, my toes smashed hard into the front. So, I sized up to a 9.0 and they're perfect. My husband sized up a half size, as well.

Once the fit is right, they are comfortable right out of the box and perform very well. Their grip on steep slab is flawless, and the stiff toe gave me a reliable platform, going up this pretty little rock chunk. They are not great on steep, gravelly descents, though. But, I've yet to find an approach shoe that is.

    Nice looking shoe, okay fit.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small

Purchased a 7.5 based on reviews being true to size. Used it once on a relatively easy trail, and will be returning. The narrow toe box was an issue for me. I did appreciate the grip I felt going downhill, but did not appreciate my toes pressing against the front of the shoe.

    Great hiker with approach features

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I used this shoe to hike Half Dome as well as an approach/descent shoe for several days of climbing in Yosemite. Except for wearing on the plane & one descent, the shoes were completely unbroken in before the 12 hour Half Dome hike. I did end up with a couple blisters, but I was surprised at how comfortable the shoes were.

I like the rubber/tread - I felt relatively sure-footed on the Mist Train as well as scrambling down the dry descents. I didn't try, but I think the tread would not be great for smearing - these are more of a hiker.

I usually wear an 8.5, occasionally a 9, so I got a 9 based on reviews which was a smidge big but OK, especially with swollen feet. The 8.5 probably would have worked fine too.
