A quality backcountry snowshoe that offers flotation in deep snow and has serrated edges for traversing hardpack and steep slopes.
Take to the mountains with the Tubbs Women's Xpedition Snowshoe. This technical snowshoe is packed with features that will get you up and down more challenging—and far more interesting—terrain in comfort. The Pro-Step frame increases floatation—the frame has a lower height nose that packs easily while the tail bend reduces impact on your joints. Its R2 Revolution Response technology delivers shock-absorbing lateral flex and quick side slope responsiveness to maintain a natural foot position in all conditions. In addition, a full step rotation allows the tail of the snowshoe to drop, shedding snow and allowing the toe crampon to bite deeply.
The asymmetric and easy-to-use ReAct binding combines women-specific, stable base construction with Tubbs' patented Control Wing technology for a comfortable and secure fit. Constructed with a carbon steel Corbra toe crampon, located under the ball of the foot, the Xpedition provides constant penetrating contact in variable snow conditions. Jagged tooth construction also improves grip on packed snow and ice, and Grappler heel cleats (a serrated teeth design) give you weighted traction under your heel. Tubbs' SoftTec decking ensures durable, lightweight flotation in all temperatures.

Tubbs Xpedition Snowshoe
Grippy, and comfortable!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
These replaced my old Atlas snowshoes, and they are fantastic! First climb was 2,500 vertical feet in about 3 miles, and they performed well in both the powder and ice. Very easy to slip on and off, had great traction, stayed where they belonged, allowed great range of motion and were comfortable on the climb. I have several past injuries (to both ankles and knees) which make it tricky to get gear that keeps me comfortable, and these do the trick in winning style. Would definitely recommend them to the serious outdoorsy gal!
How do you size snow shoes? I wear 7.5 in women shoes.
Its by weight and not shoe size. The snowshoe should be able to handle any size and a wide variety of footwear.
The larger size would be best for deep snow and if you're carrying a lot of extra weight as in winter camping.
Hope that helps
