If the resort thermometer spikes or dips too far in either direction, The North Face Boys' Boundary Triclimate Jacket is adaptable to keep your wild and crazy grom on top of his game. A waterproof breathable HyVent 2L shell keeps falling and melting snow from soaking his drive, and the insulated liner jacket boosts warmth when he needs it most.
  • The North Face designed this 3-in-1 jacket to be worn multiple ways—the shell alone, the liner alone, and the liner and shell together
  • Waterproof breathable HyVent 2L shell with fully taped seams repels falling snow, dripping chairs, and slushy falls to keep him dry and comfortable throughout the winter
  • The removable liner's 150g Heatseeker Aero synthetic insulation keeps his body heat close when worn alone or with the shell
  • The shell's removable hood blocks out the storm and provides additional versatility in changing weather
  • The shell's stowable powder skirt prevents deep snow from getting in
  • Adjustable drawcord hem and hook-and-loop cuffs help seal out the snow during magnificent crashes
  • Included key clip, glove clip, and goggle cloth help him navigate the terrain and keep track of his on-mountain necessities
  • System label on interior or garment outlines the jacket's many features so that junior can keep track of all his options

Waterproof, warm, and no whining

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

I bought the black version for my 8yo and he loves it. The Boundary has synthetic insulation for the zip in, not the fleece liner that constantly gets wet around the sleeves and the hem. You know they pull their jacket off and there is snow frozen to the cuffs and around the butt. I hope having the thicker/warmer liner will keep me from hearing, "Dad I'm cold" all the time. While we haven't had it in the snow yet, my son did wear it in the driving rain for 4+ hours at a football and he stayed dry and warm the whole time. Shedding snow is easy for most jackets but holding up to a pounding rain is impressive. I'm now in the market for another one for my younger son. Beware, size up. My 8yo wears a medium(10-12) and he's a skinny, but tall kid. I plan on getting a 6 for my again skinny 5yo. But, it seems to me that all outdoor companies run small for kids. A couple of improvement ideas for the good people at TNF, a little thicker material on the elbows and the back hem. I guess my kids are the only ones's who bail off their sled mid hill or try and use their butt as way to slow down on the ski slope.

When I bought this coat their was a lifetime warranty. Now I'm trying to exchange because the seams are coming apart on both sleeves and I'm told the policy has changed and I can not exchange!! This is very disappointing and I feel you should honor your policy when coat was purchased!! So upset!!

So handsome in it and it does the job.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My 5 yr old has this coat in a 6. Fits great and true to size. Does everything it claims to do. Warm, versatile, and hip all at the same time. Worth every penny.

Would you say that he is big or small for a 5 year old? My son just turned 5 but I think he's on the smaller side.

Julia, size up! My very skinny boys are both wearing sizes up from.

Rain, Snow, Cool, Cold...Clutter-buster!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

PERFECT! I love it so much I bought one for all my boys. I was so tired of a rain jacket, a cool weather jacket, a heavy winter jacket, extra sweatshirts for layering...All hanging on the hall wall. Ugh! But this coat has solved all that. No more heavy puffy jacket. No more rain jacket. No more lighter jacket for fall and spring. Here in northern Missouri, we get a taste of it all, and this jacket fits the bill. Beads rain nicely, looks sharp. Love the hood with the elastic around the crown to form-fit. Oh, and really love the price!

I bought this for my 6yr. old son. He loves it. I love it. It is very warm and when it starts getting warmer you can use the thinner one. Its great its 3 jackets in one. One for the Fall, Winter and Early Spring. Thanks Back Country

The ability to adapt quick

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

My son loves it. He uses the liner in California's coast. He switches between liner and waterproof jacket as fast as the weather changes

Great Jacket

Bought this for 11 year old boy. It has been great in both milder temps and in cold weather (with a few layers). Our son loves it as well. Highly recommend this jacket.

Great jacket

Bought for my 5 year old... recently wore it during a ten degree day and he was toasty. Love that liner can be separate so that it can be used on warmer days.

3 Jackets in one!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My boy loves this jacket. On a 50deg dry day he wears just the inner jacket. +45deg rainy days he wears just the outer shell. And of course snow days both jackets zipped into one. The best part is the inner jacket looks great by itself.
That's a lot of bang for your buck, thanks The North Face!

What temperature range is this North Face...

What temperature range is this North Face Boundary Triclimate Jacket good for?

Responded on

North Face dose not give temp. ranges, unfortunately. This will be warm enough for a active youth. However, down jackets tend to be the warmest, providing they have a water proof 'shell' to keep the down dry.

As far a sizes on the size chart above in blue, by the little ruler.

Hope this still helps.
