The North Face Men's Back-To-Berkeley 84 Nubuck Boot is a waterproof throwback to simpler times when walking around campus or a day hike didn't involve portable chargers and GPS devices. This non-insulated waterproof boot lets you tiptoe through a thunderstorm or stomp through sleet with dry feet, and an ultra-rugged sole keeps you vertical when two inches of ice suggest otherwise. This retro-styled boot is made of waterproof suede, a BLC-compliant material. A gussted tongue means water should not be able to enter the boot from the topside, and the HydroSeal waterproof membrane adds an additional line of defense against external water. Even though the boot is not insulated, your foot might get warm after hiking for several hours on end. The HydroSeal membrane helps transport excess (internal) moisture away from your foot for long-wearing comfort and less sweaty feet at the end of the day.
A compression-molded EVA midsole gives your foot a soft landing every time you step down, and lasts longer than you do on the trail. The WinterGrip rubber outsole stays pliable when temperatures plunge, and IcePick temperature-sensitive lugs don't freeze up in the face of three-inch thick ice. The lack of insulation means you can wear this boot when you're back to campus for homecoming in early fall without overheating, or you can throw on heavy wool socks for a mid-winter snowshoe.
