If you've ever toured in a pair of hard shell pants, you know that it can become pretty uncomfortable. Even super-cold days can get hot and clammy inside your pants about halfway up the skin track. The North Face would like to put that clamminess to rest once and for all with the Alloy Pant. The Apex softshell main body fabric is nice and breathable , so all that clammy moisture can escape. That's not to say that the Alloy doesn't provide protection from the weather and the occasional fall—it does.
The main body of the Alloy Pant is TNF Apex softshell fabric. Apex is stretchy and extremely breathable. It allows sweat vapor to escape to eliminate the moist, clammy feeling that a less breathable fabric can create. The knees and seat are The North Face's waterproof breathable shell fabric, HyVent. The Alloy pant also comes with a removable belt and removable suspenders, so you have plenty of fit options. Zippered thigh vents allow you to dump heat quickly when necessary. The Alloy also has cuff gaiters to keep the snow out and kickpatches to protect the cuffs from sharp ski edges, and The North Face finished off the Alloy with two zippered handwarmer pockets at the front.
