    My new GO TO

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

35 years running. I'm a visor girl. I have several. But, this one from Sunday Afternoons has become my GO TO. And I'll be honest, I was skeptical since I already have a couple other brands that I really love.

I'll start with the main reason I wear a visor: to protect my eyes. It keeps my bangs, sweat, and the sun out of my eyes. I choose visors over hats because I've learned that my body temp stays cooler by letting head heat release rather than holding it inside a hat.

Here are a few reasons this visor has become my fave.
1- It's super lightweight and stays put. As I take each step it doesn't bounce or slide down my forehead asking me to reposition it every mile. Huge plus!!
2- The design is cut to fit up over your ears and not irritatingly sit and push down on the ear ridge. Love that! Often times with other visors, they fit over my ears so that my ears are squished to my head and then when released are achy.
3- Whoever designed this, has got to be an outdoorsy person who carries a bag of gear for on the go activities. This visor has a seem down the center so it can be folded and placed/stuffed :) in a bag for on the ready fun.
4- I haven't used this feature, but it's a great idea for sunglass wearers, there's a slot on each side above the brim to slide the ends of sunglasses in so they'll stay put when not worn over the eyes.

Coming from a visor girl veteran: Two thumbs up. Love it!!

    My new GO TO

Sun protection with a cool head

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got into visors a few years ago mostly because I hate to wear sunglasses while I'm running. They protect your eyes from the sun but what about your face? I'm super careful with sunblock and protecting my skin from the sun as much as I can (aging.....). I used to wear baseball caps but my head would get really hot. So voila! I became a visor wearer.

I'm really impressed by this visor for a few reasons:

First, I get imprints on my skin quite easily and they take a while to go away. So, if my visor is too tight I end up with a line across my forehead for a good part of the day. And if it's too loose it falls down. There's a happy medium but you need a visor that's super adjustable and that has a wide band. This one has both so now my visor stays up and I don't have a line across my head. Success!

The foldable brim is really great for taking the visor along wherever you go. Now it'll fit easily in my purse and I can pack it without worrying that it's going to lose its shape and end up wonky.

I also like the fabric. It feels like a hi-tech fabric that won't stain or smell over time after lots of wearing. I've had cotton/canvas visors in the past and after a bit there's an ugly sweat and dirt band on the inside which never comes off no matter what you do.

The visor also has these little pockets on the sides on top of the brim where you can put your sunglass arms so they'll stay on and you don't lose them. I haven't used that part yet but it seems really useful.

It felt strange but this is actually the first visor where I've read the little card that comes with it to understand all of the features. No joke.

I have the dark grey (slate) which is like a charcoal color. I think it would be great if these came in a rainbow of colors.

Sun protection with a cool head

For twenty bucks, wear this under helmet

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got this visor in gray to wear under my cycling helmet and I'll also use it under a mountaineering helmet or snow helmet on a sunny day. Very soft feel, but stiff brim, foldable. I had a version from Outdoor Research with a plastic buckle but it fell out of my jersey pocket on the road, so I bought this as a replacement. I like the simple velcro back better because it fits better under helmet buckles.

    Nice Hat

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Love the hat and wear it all the time. Also like how I can fold it and put it in my pocket. Don't put it in the dryer though. The plastic clip in the back will break if it gets tangled with other clothes (don't ask me how I know this).

Note to the company: Please make the clip more durable.
