Description

Ultimate protection, fit, and airflow for the ultimate skier.

When it comes to protection, you refuse to settle with those uncomfortably stifling helmets that make for sub-par ski sessions. Strap on the Smith Vantage Helmet and experience comfortable protection like never before. Its innovative Hybrid SL shell construction combines Smith's bombshell ABS on the top of your head with a flyweight In-Mold technology around the sides so you get an optimized fit around your noggin that doesn't decrease durability. The all-new Aerocore Technology fully covers your dome with four Koroyd inserts that absorb more energy on an impact than normal inserts and that increase airflow without compromising your safety. The AirEvac 2 Ventilation provides constant airflow by moving chilly mountain air through external vents below the brim and pushing warm air out of 21 vents across your head. If you get too cold, you can close the vents with the dual regulator at the top of the helmet that's easy to switch, even with gloves on.

The Vantage truly provides a superior fit with its adjustable Boa FS360 Fit System, which has a full 360-degree halo design that offers both forward and lateral adjustments. The helmet's Nanosilver performance lining has antimicrobial features that keep it clean. Snapfit SL2 Ear Pads seal around your ears to give unbelievable warmth on stormy days, and you can remove them when you have a sunny sky to warm you. They also hold compatible Skullcandy ear buds so you can drop the sickest beats while you drop the sickest cliffs, or make a phone call to tell your boss you're too sick to come in.

  • Hybrid SL shell construction
  • Aerocore Technology featuring Koroy energy-absorbing inserts

  • Dual regulator adjustable climate control

Awesome helmet w Anon M2!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I went through two helmets before discovering the Vantage. This helmet is AWESOME. I had an older mutiny, then bought the anon Halo. I used the helo for a day and was miserable w it. The vantage pairs perfectly w Anon M2 goggles. Zero gap. Zero air leaks. The vented brim is brilliant. I feel like this keeps the airflow moving keeping it from not trapping vapor. I used this on high moisture powder days and had no fogging. The Helmet was very warm in very cold vt temps 1-5 degrees w vents shut. Its very light. It's fit is lower profile than the anon helmets so your head doesn't look like a bulb. Goggle strap secure and routing is perfect. You can tell a lot of thought went into this helmet. It's worth it's price.

One thing could use improvement. The gromit for the exit of the audio wire is right under a strap.

Superior Fit and Ventilation

After many years of use it was time to retire my Bern Helmet. Since I've been using Smith goggles for several years and testing the integration in store this was an obvious choice.

The Good

Fit: The Vantage comes in 4 sizes from 51-67cm and includes the Boa fit system. My Bern had absolutely no adjustability of the liner aside from adding a few pads and never fit completely snugly. This helmet fits like it should and sinks down onto the head like a glove. With a quick twist of the Boa you can dial in that perfect level of snugness. The helmet is nice and low profile, not to mention lightweight.

Ventilation: The biggest problem I had with my Bern aside from a slightly imperfect fit was goggle integration. Medium helmets seemed to integrate poorly with the curvature of my goggles and as a result led to slight gaper gap. I could care less about the slight gap style wise, but hiking in foul weather this is a killer as your goggles tend to fog very quickly.

Smith goggles integrate perfectly with their helmet line ( I have the I/O ) and the Air-Evac helps take dumped heat around the foam at the top of the goggle and bring it overhead and out the top. Even in brutal cold I have no problems with fogging booting up 1200' couloirs. The dual regulator lets you choose front, back, or both for ventilation. I particularly like dual open when hiking, front closed when skiing in slightly warmer weather, and both closed if its downright brutal.

The Bad

Camera Mounting: A great deal of thought was put into the Smith Forefront Bike helmet with a recessed slot for action camera mounting. On the vantage in size medium I've found its impossible to mount a GoPro with the traditional flat or curved 3M mounts, going so far as to use several types of superglues and epoxies to keep the mounts stuck. I did not ding Smith for this because the helmet functions completely as it should as a safety device, but it would be nice to see this detail addition in the future.

Good looking helmet

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I bought this as a gift, but it was returned because of sizing. It's a good looking helmet. The colors are smooth and it's durable as well. He wasn't able to try it out, but it is a great helmet for sure.

Love It

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Vantage is perfect - it's lightweight, has superb ventilation, fits great thanks to the Boa system, looks good and last but by no means least, provides excellent protection. A winner for sure.

Great Fit, nice air flow

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have been brand loyal to Giro for years. Unfortunatly they no longer make helmets that I like, so went searching for another brand.

I have a big head, and most helmets make me look the Great Gazoo from the Flintstones. This ones does not, and fits great.

Also really impressed with the weight and the airflow. I ski in California and it is often hot.

Responded on

Also seems to fit well with Oakley Googles. Oh did I mention the weight, stupid light.

Very Happy Customer

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've gone through a number of different helmet manufacturers over the years - Leedom, Giro, to name a few. My biggest gripe has been ventilation and helmet/goggle fit. I have really found my perfect match with the Smith Vantage. I've paired it with a set of Smith Optics I/O and the goggle and helmet now fit seamlessly together. Another feature I really liked is that the helmet has a number of settings for ventilation. I can open front and back vents separately, and I can open the vents at various positions. Smith nailed the ventilation aspects with this helmet and they nailed the helmet/goggle fit. I wasn't sure I was going to like the brim, but it actually adds to the helmet/goggle fit.

The helmet is super comfortable. I skied today in 20 degree weather before wind chill and it kept me very warm. I've found that the cinching system in the back of some helmets (near the neck) tend to be bulky and dig into my neck when I look up. Smith did a great job designing the size and position of their cinching mechanism. No problems at all.

Definitely a great purchase.

Lime Head

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

You won't find better looking comfort in a helmet on the market today. It isn't one of the best selling helmets by chance. The dial-in feature located on the back of the helmet allows you to tailor your fit as needed, and the removable padding lets you fit a beanie underneath if that is your stoke style. Remember, don't be afraid to throw a GOAT on it!

Great fit, no weight!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This helmet is the bomb-diggity. It's got everything going for it! Looks great, is super comfortable, weighs next to nothing*, and has great ventilation and goggle integration. The Air Evac 2 system is super easy and allows you to independently adjust the front and rear ventilation.

The Boa system is super easy to adjust, and it doesn't just adjust the circumference, but the upper-rear of the helmet as well. This leads to a much more customized and comfortable fit. I've had no issues adjusting the helmet with either bare or gloved hands.

I haven't taken any full-on runs are trees or moose, but I have taken a spill or two (HEY! Powder is hard for East-Coasters) and this helmet has done a great job of keeping my cranium protected.

It's definitely an expensive helmet.... but it's also an awesome one.

*Actual weight is 18 oz more than nothing

When will u have more xl in?

Responded on

Looks like we have a BUNCH on order! Could be here any day now, hopefully within the next week or two! Sorry, we don't have an exact arrival date!

Will there be any medium orange helmets coming in the near future?

Responded on

Hey Lyle,
If you mean the Orange W3, that color is actually left over from last year! Unfortunately, it was discontinued so we would not be able to get more of those.

Why don't you carry the XL size?

Responded on

Hey Eric,
We will be carrying the XL in Matte Black, however they have not come in from Smith yet. We are expecting 31 of them to come in but unfortunately we don't have a date just yet.

Responded on

Ok thanks, hope its soon. I am running out of time to buy and ship it time for end of year ski trip.

Responded on

Hey Eric,
Heads up in case you haven't checked back in, the XL is now in stock.

Responded on

What helmet?

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Best part about this helmet or me is I never know its there. It is so damn comfortable that I forget I even have it on. It has massive vents which let me stay cool on the skin track or making turns. The BOA system is a thing of genius, even if I have a balaclava on under neath or just got a 5year haircut, this helmet always fits. Not only that it is all at the turn of a dial, with one hand. #winning
If your looking for a lightweight helmet with tons of coverage that you don't even know you have on, look no further.

Responded on

how's the bubblehead effect? i have a narrow face so if I'm going to upgrade my gear id like a melon lid that has a better profile.

Responded on

Bubblehead effect is super minimal with this. Helmet is very slim fitting, fits in all my hoods and don't even notice its there.

Ventilated Protection and Style

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Between ski patrolling at Snowbird and guiding clients in the Andes, I spend about 150 days a year on snow. Every single one of those days I wear the Smith Vantage to keep my dome protected. The Vantage fits true to size and I use the medium. Which is nice because I can still fit a buff underneath on those really cold days. For spring skiing, the massive vents keep the air flowing. I couple this helmet with the Smith I/OX and have never had a fogged goggle situation arise. Highly recommended for alpine shredding this season!

Awesome & Comfortable

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great helmet - the air vents are great and the fit is terrific.

How well does this integrate with the Dragon APX goggle?

Responded on

Mike Farrell ,
The Vantage should fit well with the APX Goggle by Dragon. It's an awesome helmet

Best Helmet I've Owned

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been really Happy with the Smith Vantage. The BOA system makes it easy to adjust for just the right fit. The Vents are easy to open or close while skiing, and it keeps my head safe and warm.

I will more than likely buy a 2nd one , as I have over 300 days skiing on mine and feel it's good to replace helmets from time to time.
