Ignitor Mirror goggles! A little bit of underkill eye protection-wise on a super sunny day, but love this style!

Loooove Smith goggles!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I am a woman with a big head and a prominent beak yet somehow, a medium-sized face. Therefore, I have a pretty wicked time finding perfect goggles. Smith's fit all my needs! Plenty big enough to fit over my helmet, comfy on my nose and a perfect fit on my face. Good range of view and great styles. They fog up once in awhile when I've got a facemask tucked up into them on super cold days, but I think that's pretty unavoidable with ANY goggles. Up on Hood, we get a lot of mixed-bag days where it will be cloudy, snowing, flat light, then peeks of sunshine...for those days the ignitor mirror lenses are great. For low light/snowy days, red sensor is awesome. Although these are technically a dudes' goggle, I'd totally recommend them for ladies who find women's goggles just a teeny bit too small!

Good goggles

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got these goggles for a snow trip to Queenstown, NZ and they came through with flying colours. No fogging when it warmed up in the afternoon and they fit like a dream.

This is not described as a women's goggle and I see several reviews from men but the header after clicking through to it reads, Snowboard >Goggles & Accessories >Women's Goggles. Can you please tell me if it is a small frame model?

Responded on

Hey Stefan,

Smith has these listed in the men's category and sized for medium faces. Not sure how took it onto themselves to reclassify these goggles but I will try to get to the bottom of this post-hast.

Great googles

Solid googles at a good price, fit my helmet and face well, I love the RC36 lens for all purpose, this is my 3rd pair of googles by Smith with the RC36 lens.

Second pair and loving them!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My husband purchased these for me to replace stolen snowboard equipment. Previously I had the Phenom Blue Cape Fear with ignitor mirror lens goggles and I am now reviewing the Irie Rocker with ignitor mirror lens goggles. I loved my older Phenoms and couldn't wait to try these out. I took these out on a snowy night boarding adventure and they worked great! There were no issues going from day to night and I've found the ignitor mirror lens works a little better than the sensor mirror lens while night boarding. I had a few faceshots and there were no issues with build up on the lens or clogging due to snow sitting on the foam (no ventilation issues/my vents were closed).
These were a bit tight while trying to get them on the Boeri helmet in medium that I was given to use until I can replace my stolen helmet. They were tight but they didn't leave lines on my face and will probably stretch out a bit after more use.

Second pair and loving them!

Basic goggle that works

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Very basic goggle that rocks! Nothing fancy no bells and whistles just a goggle that works. I have had these for 2 years now and changed out the lens this season and will continue to do so year after year. The ignitor mirror lens is where it’s at! Perfect middle of the road lens that works great on a storm day and will protect your eyes on a bluebird day.

Crispy white

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Got these goggles in the white w/ blue lens and they are very cool. Great price point, comfortable to wear, and the blue lenses took some getting used to, but they work out awesome.

not bad

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

nice snug fit for the $; you may want lighter lens for bad light

Good goggles for the price.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is probably one of the best intermediate goggles Smith makes. They aren't spectacular, but they get the job done effectively. The only qualm I have with these is that the plastic buckles are pretty weak. I broke one of the snaps when I was trying to adjust the strap. Fortunately they still work. I'd recommend these to anyone who's been riding for a while and needs a step up in their visibility but doesn't want to spend a fortune.

not a bad choice

But I definitely prefer my IOX goggles from smith. Better visibility and multiple lenses. Still not a bad goggle for the price though.

Where can I find clear lense for Smith Phenom goggles?

Best Answer Responded on

From Smith optics directly, they're hard to find usually. if you're using them for night riding, the yellow works great!

Does the Phenom googles include a single or a double lens?

Responded on

There is a single lens on the Phenom model. No extra lenses included. Hope that helps.

why do these goggles say they are 54.98, but in my cart they are 109.95?

Responded on

Howdy Melissa,

So the difference in price is that a few of the color / lens options are in the outlet at the cheaper price. The remaining now outlet items are at full price

Will Stance lenses fit in this goggle frame?

Responded on

Unfortunately the Stance lenses will not fit in this frame. The Phenom has a spherical lens whereas the Stance is a cylindrical lens. This and the fact that the frame shape is slightly different will cause issues with fit for sure.

Does anyone have any experience fitting these goggles with the Giro Seam helmet?

Responded on

I have these goggles, but not a Giro helmet (mine is a Bern). My experience with Smith goggles has been that they fit helmets better than any other brand on the market. I would be shocked if they didn't fit your helmet well.

Responded on

i use this with a giro seam medium. It works for me; but one thing to note are the straps are almost all the way expanded.

All helmet/goggle combos though depend on how you wear your helmet so what works for my face and head might not work for your head.

Responded on

Have the Giro Seam helmet in medium and the phenom goggles. Fits perfectly. Get a "helmet helper" to expand the band. Otherwise they're too tight. Oh yeah, the ignitor lens is a great all around lens for white out and bluebird days. Good luck finding them, I had to get mine from Smith, online.

Is it possible to remove the lens if it...

Posted on

Is it possible to remove the lens if it gets scratched or if the weather changes from sunny to cloudy (or vice versa)? If so, how easy is it to swap out lenses?

Responded on

Absolutely, I have a pair of these myself. It's really easy. The frame itself is quite flexible and just pulls apart, then snaps into place around the new lens. It's quick enough to do on the lift ride up.

Goes great with the Maze helmet

I like how the Phenoms have a distinct plastic frame all the way around the lens, protecting my face from the sharp edges of the lens when I faceplant. The Blackout lens is my everyday workhorse lens for varied conditions. It's not obnoxiously reflective, but still difficult for an outsider to see your eyes. The gold Sol X "Opium Den" lens is my favorite for late spring/summer riding when the sun stays out late. The Blue Sensor Mirror lens works the best for low light storm shredding.

Great goggles.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm a lifty and use these every day at work and love them. I've got a pair of the Mint Kilgore/Blue Sensor Mirror and like that they work in many different types of light. Smith goggles overall seem to fit any type of helmet better than other brands of goggles. Also love the vent on the front which helps minimize fogging.
