Interlock Prophet Sunglasses - Polarized

With the Polarized Interlock Prophet Sunglasses, Smith combines an easy-to-use interchangeable lense system with precision polarized optics for trail to town versatility. When you want to switch it up, simply twist the arm, change the lense, and your ready to go. The polarized lenses reduce glare, and each pair of glasses comes with two extra sets of lenses (the two extra sets are non-polarized).

Bottom Line: A prophetic design for the future of optics.

Slider options, better style.

By: Backcountry.com Sponsored Athlete

The Smith Slider sunglasses are indispensable for people who are active in all conditions. The Interlock Prophet offers a slightly more urban styling but with the same options, and the lenses are a bit easier to change in and out (not that it was hard with the sliders). Plus the same unlimited Smith warranty that people have loved forever.

Style and roughness all in one!

By:

I chew through sunglasses and I am very selective about them as well - you have to look good up on the peaks!

I love the lightweight design, the soft padding is excellent and the lens's are very resilient (thus far). Most sunglass brands give me a headache at the temples, however I found the Prophets to be extremely comfortable!

I would have preferred more wrap around coverage, however they do still offer a decent amount of protection.

The interchangeable lens are fiddly and it takes a bit of time to swap (especially in the field) although the plus side is that you can remove the old scratched lens (if you manage to scratch them) and replace them.

I use them all the time whether sipping lattes, banging out the miles in a sea kayak, hanging off the cliffs, sailing into heavy seas or bagging that snowy peak...and they are still strong!

Get a pair!

Love 'em!!

By:
July 30, 2009

I've made a million purchases on S&C before, and this is my first time reviewing an item....and I am simply because I am SO happy with these sunglasses!

They are a great fit (small-medium) and they grip really nicely to my face. They look really cool from a casual and style standpoint, and they would certainly do a great job on the trail. This is my second pair of Smith Interlocks, and I have to say, if you're looking for interchangable lense sunglasses, these truely are the best. The full-frame with the changable lenses is a must.

The color is really cool. I got the Stout Fade model, and I just love it. I have been looking for months for the right pair of brown sunglasses, and this is definitely it. They're a dark enough brown that they don't look silly, but you can still tell that they are brown and not black.

I don't know how else to describe how happy I am about this purchase. The shades are regularly $150 and I got them on S&C for $60...and if that still seems too expensive to you, let me tell you, they're SO worth it.

Love, love, love them.

Improvement

My Smith Methods fell into the Hawaiian surf (My fault). My Interlock 01 convinced me on the interlock system. The Prophets are the shape of the Method and the interchangability of the O1. If I was any happier I could sell all of my other sunglasses... I'm also a fan of Oakley and MJ and these keep up or exceed them in any category with SAC giving me a much better price.

Active Style

By:

Solid construction and designed for active wear. The nose and sides have rubber pad which hold the glasses on during fun activities, like mtn biking or bear chasing. They are pretty big, but they look cool, or so my soon to be wife says!

Loved my Method's Adore my Prophets

By:
April 24, 2009

Fit is almost identical to the method with the addition of rubber nose and temple pieces. My Methods have been retired to driving duty now as the ability to swap out the lenses (interlock system is awesome) makes these my go-to hiking/biking/fishing specs.

Good so far...

By:

The Prophets are great all-around sunglasses with the ability to work well mountain biking. The grippy rubber used on these things would make Spiderman envious. I can't believe how well these stick to my nose--even when I'm sweating profusely hammering up the Clark's Trail Time Trial here in Draper, UT. I only wish I had a more bike-friendly lens tint out of the box. Clear isn't really an option unless you want to wear them to the movies, polarized is nice and dark (perfect for the lake) and the ignitor lens is good for hanging out elsewhere. I wish they had a rose copper lens option out of the box, but the Prophet is pretty solid!

Not Yet, interlock is no good

By:
October 18, 2009

I was excited about these before they came, though Smith had perfected the lens change. They look pretty cool and having a few different lenses is nice. However after using them for a few months I have to say the design just doesn't cut it. Too easily do the frames pop open. The way to exchange lens imho is awkward and not effective.I am very disappointed with them, despite the face I love smith products. I am huge fan of the methods...if your looking for shades get the methods, or super methods. But as for the interlock system, I am not a fan. Maybe if you are super careful, and your head never gets jostled they will work, but too many times have the frames twisted open during activity.

good sunnies

These have replaced an old pair of Smiths which I left somewhere in the Wolgan Valley (Australia). They are just as good as the old ones.

Great All-Around Glasses

By:
November 10, 2009

I use these for multi-day backpacking trips. The reasons are 1) they are sturdy 2) they grip well with sweat and rain 3) they provide enough wrap that I can look all the way up/down and right/left and my eyes are protected, and 4) I like they way the look and feel.

Perhaps the only drawback is that since they wrap a bit, they don't fold flat. This means that when you store them in your pack they take up a bit more room than non-wrap glasses. Of course, they provide a lot more sun, rain, and wind protection. Especially in the snow.

I would like to see them sold with a poly chromatic lens. the Polar Gray and Ignitor lenses they come with are great for bright and medium/low light, respectively, but a poly chromatic lens would work in all light conditions without needing to switch.

Switching lenses is easy, but it does require you to stop, open your pack, and stow the old lenses if you want to do so.

solid shades

By:
November 4, 2009

these are good overall sunnies. they stay on your face for active people. the interchanging lense is always nice though i have not utilized that aspect yet.

After wearing them for an extended period they seem to give me a headache however. I got them at a nice discounted price, but if i had to pay over a hundred for them. i would get a different pair.

more like super methods than methods

By:
October 24, 2009

I bought these on the advice of another reviewer that they're the interchangeable equivalent of smith methods. Well, they're bigger in pretty much all dimensions except the size head they fit, and they have a slightly pointed shape on the outside of the lens, unlike the methods that have a flat outside of the lens. I don't own super methods to compare for sure, but I suspect these are closer in size and shape to super methods, which don't look as universally good on everyone. also, they are a little more snug and make my head feel pinched. they'll do for biking in the winter, but certainly not stylish like my methods.

it's love

By:
August 7, 2009

These were my first Smith purchase and also my first S&C purchase and I'm thrilled all around. I've always been a cheap sunglasses gal but after wearing these amazing polarized Prophets, I'm never going back. They fit my face great and block the sun so well, plus the nose grips kept them from sliding down my sunscreen covered nose in lots of heat and humidity. I usually don't like to spend a lot of money on much of anything and the $58.99 price seemed a bit high to me, but I decided to go for it anyway and am so glad I did!

Not the best for Water.

By:
July 23, 2009

Bought these for a canoe trip. They worked great until we were doing capsize practice and as soon as I hit the water the ear piece spun releasing the lenses and down the sunk. Besides this unfortunate flaw, I loved the fit and functionality of the sunglasses

love my Smiths

By:
November 3, 2008

i've been loyal to Smith for awhile now and, including this new purchase, without any disappointment. i have a larger than average head, so i'm always leery bout specs that say they're large, but these fit perfect. the rubber grips are for other manufacturers to drool over. i'm going to wear these casually and on nice ski days. with the grips (and the add'l lenses for different conditions), these would be great for biking and casual motorcycling. you will not regret this purchase!

Okay, I'm the rep for Smith, so I'm bias, however, the new interlock collections is off the chart. The Prophet is fits a lot like the method, and boasts crazy interchangeablility. Enjoy. Play in the sun! Ciao
