The shaft is Sawyer's fiberglass option for those of us who want lightweight strength without blowing our budget while the standard Stubby blade is a 24-inch whitewater blade that's laminated its Douglas Fir core with carbon fiber and protected its edges with Dynel and a Kevlar Pro Tip to last longer in rocky waterways. This pairing keeps our costs and swing-weight down while letting us enjoy a shorter blade that's stiff, super tough, and incredibly lightweight.
