Could be better

I loved the Sense Ride 3, but the 5 is clunky and I couldn't get it to fit comfortably around my foot, no matter how many times I adjusted the laces.

Bring back sense ride 4

Disappointed in these. Fit is off and the tongue sticks up like a sore thumb! Salomon should not have changed design. The 4s were perfect. Well, for me anyway!

Great shoe

I bought this shoe for running in winter. I really like this shoe because it is waterproof and has some grip on the sole. Would recommend this shoe for only small runs ( like 5km) i tried to run a 12km in them and my knees hurt afterwards. Over all love this shoe. Would use also to go hiking.

Size up!

I read the reviews and bought half a size up. They did not feel too small when I just tried them on, but as I started to wear them as it became colder they hurt my big toe and the outer side of my foot. I wore them several times hoping to break them in, but they rather break my feet. I own other Salomon shoes women’s size 7 and run in them regularly and no problem. These are size 7.5. I think Salomon must replace them for me for size 8. Would be very appreciative

Why is the tongue so massive?

I have a non-GTX version of these and have enjoyed them for years. I bought the GTX version a few weeks ago and I’m not loving them. They fit very wide in the toe box. And what’s with the tongue? It’s massively padded and does not tuck in well. It also sticks out and clips my other ankle.

Disappointing compared to the originals

I've loved the original version of this shoe for several years now. I finally wore through the heel and most of the tread, so I thought I'd try the new version, but no luck. The biggest flaw is that these used to be good shoes for a neutral foot position, but the new version tilts my foot inward into overpronation. I also find the new seam right along the opening to be very irritating (you can see in the picture that the old version was smooth on the inside below the anklebone, where this one has a rough seam). I like the addition of a loop on the heel, but it doesn't make up for the discomfort of the new fit.

Keeps my feet dry when running in wet grass

These are good shoes but not my favorite Salomon. They are a little big in the toe area

Changed sizing

Bought these to replace 2x pairs of sense ride 4 gtx which had been excellent in terms of fit & functionality. These sense ride 5 gtx do not fit as well. The toe box seems to be narrower so the shoes feel ‘pinched’ and slightly smaller. A shame because the overall shoe is fab. Won’t be replacing them due to fit.

Good, Practical Shoe

I wanted to replace a black Salomon gortex shoe that I've been wearing for about 5 years. I decided on this shoe after comparing it to another Salomon model with cortex. The fit is excellent, with good support for a narrow foot and relatively high arch. There is enough cushioning for comfort. I've worn the shoes outdoors for 2-3 mile walks and am very satisfied. Since it hasn't rained, I've had no opportunity to test the water repellent qualities, but my past experience with this brand gives me confidence.
