Axion Pro Down Jacket

High elevation climbing and mountaineering objectives have a certain way of throwing unexpected weather at even the most experienced alpinists. For this reason, it's helpful to have a ‘stay-warm-no-matter-what’ type of layer in your pack at all times, just in case of the unexpected. This is where the Axion Pro Down Jacket comes into play, thanks to heavyweight insulation and a packable design. The 700 fill down insulation boasts superior warmth-retention and a Nikwax hydrophobic finish to ensure moisture doesn’t interfere with its insulating properties. The jacket easily packs down to ensure that you always have room for it — just incase.

I bought this jacket for the very cold morning that I head out to walk/Run my dogs. I love the fit of this jacket covers my butt and it’s so warm. I wear a light weight base and that’s all I need. Don’t want to get cold or shiver during the early freezing temperatures.. this is perfect. Love the blue color and the light weight down. It’s a great jacket. The Size is perfect wear basically a medium & love it. Sleeves are long but not too long. The material seems very delicate but so far wear it almost every day.

If you are looking for warmth - look no further!! I am a person who always runs cold, and this jacket does it for me. The jacket has a coating on it that makes it more weather and water resistant than most down jackets. I love the dual zipper on this jacket as well, it works perfectly with a harness, and keeps me warm when I'm belaying on those really cold days. Rab uses 100% recycled down in this jacket, which I think is rad. Who doesn't want to support a company that cares about the environment? Overall, the jacket has proven to perform on the mountain for me, but I also love that I can wear it casually. I often zip off the hood for when I'm just using it around town.

I bought this jacket after a particularly belaying chilly experience. I was looking for a compressible, warm belay parka that I could put on over other jackets either while cragging or stopping to have a snack during spring mountaineering outings. After taking this jacket up Mt. Adams (12k elevation) I'd say it did its job pretty well! The Axion Pro is very warm and was able to bring me from shivering to comfy in under a minute during a mid-August ascent (~20F near the top). I am one of those people who's always cold so this is a big deal!!! The chest pocket is very convenient for storing my phone and the side pockets are well-insulated and reachable while wearing a waistbelt. I usually wear a size XS from Rab but sized up to a S so that I could wear this over other layers--definitely the right choice. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 star review is that this jacket started leaking feathers almost immediately, and there's probably 8 or 9 different spots feathers are trying to escape from. That aside, this is a great jacket for 3 season mountaineering and chilly belay stations!
