Your go-to belay biner.
Unlike most locking carabiners, Petzl made its Attache 3D Locking Carabiner specifically for belaying whether you're using an auto-locker, an ATC, or even a munter hitch. The aluminum and H-shaped cross section make sure this lightweight biner remains durable with its excellent strength-to-weight ratio. It has a medium size to accommodate any belay device with ease, and the wide surface area allows superb rope glide that also reduces wear on the biner for fantastic longevity. The screw-lock sleeve is easy to use and provides efficient clipping, and the visual indicator clearly points out whether it's locked or not. This pear-shaped carabiner also features a keylock nose for snag-free clipping every time.

- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I've used these for several years now and they've withstood the rigors of time.
They are small and handle wonderfully. I prefer these for belaying because of their smaller size in relation to others, hence easy handling.
I use the Petzl William lockers for setting top rope achors or after leading a pitch for others to follow because they are slightly larger. This allows more rope and sling space.
These are too small for much versatility so I recommend them as belay carabiners.
