My favorite item of clothing

I got one of these for Christmas last year, and I swear I'd wear it every single day if I could. It's warm and great for layering under a vest or warmer winter jacket. The pockets are nice and my things never seem to fall out. I'm 5'4" and pretty petite so I got the XS and it fits amazingly.

Dos gearheads approve!

Such a warm, soft quality jacket!
I am 6ft tall, with a 28" waist and a 38" hip.
I ordered a medium, and the fit is great!
I only wish there was maybe an inch more in the sleeves, but I have fairly long arms.
If you're debating between this jacket and the Synchilla, the Re-Tool is so much softer and thicker than the Synchilla.
Love the colors! Can't go wrong with Patagonia!

Patagonia has my heart.

I went on a backpacking trip in March in Southern Utah and in the Gila National Forest in New Mexico and I chose to bring this gem of a jacket with me!
It got pretty cold outside at night and was quite frigid in the morning but this jacket seriously made my trip so much better because I felt cute in it and it did it's job of keeping me comfortable and warm!
The only thing that I don't like is I do sweat a lot in it when I'm inside and so it's not super breathable in the armpit area. But other than that I definitely recommend it for winter use and for camping. Its very lightweight and manageable in a backpack.and you don't feel big and bulky like a hoodie.

Patagonia has my heart.

Patagonia Love!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

This is a great camping sweatshirt. Its a fuzzy fleece which is surprisingly warm and comfortable. The pocket goes all the way through like a sweatshirt. The only down side is its pretty boxy because its a little short in the torso, however as to be expected in a sweatshirt. I am 5'4" and 125lbs and got the size small. I would suggest if you are any taller than me go with a size M or even large (depending on build) just to give you a little extra length. So it runs true to size to small depending on how you like the fit. It also sometimes feels little tight in the arms when i wear a long sleeve shirt, like the fabric catches on my clothes. However not a common occurrence, just every once in a while. Plus side, this is a CLASSIC style and love the casual camping look. Super easy to throw in a bag. and keeps you warm on cold nights for sure! Great base layer.

I live in this fleece.

Seriously, I do live in this fleece. It's a great all around piece that I use (and love) for just about everything. It pairs well under a microdown and ski shell for colder days on the hill. I'm constantly reaching for it when I am at home lounging, apres ski/bike, or anytime I am chilled. I might even love it just as much in the summer months for camping trips or over shorts when the sun goes down.

You know how fleece tends to pill up after multiple wears and washes? This fleece doesn't do that! It looks (and feels) the pretty much the same as it did when I bought it.

The only caution I would offer is that because of the way the material is constructed, the wind will cut right through it so for cold and windy outside days it will work better as an "insulator" piece.

is this pullover lined?

Just fleece, no liner. Super cozy though. Never want to take this one off!

Like Adora said, it is not lined. I agree with her comment it is incredibly cozy for that reason (not wind proof though). I've always wondered why with other fuzzy fleeces they line it (like the Patagonia Retro pieces) because I would rather have the fuzzy cozy material on the interior!

Unanswered Question

How purple is that color? It looks almost greyish. Thanks.

I'm obsessed with this fleece! If my bank account allowed - I would buy every color. So comfortable for lounging around the house and especially excited to wear it when I go camping! I will be buying another color.

Best Pullover Ever

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am so sad I didn't purchase this sooner. As a college student, grabbing this and running to class is the most convenient thing ever. It's stylish and ridiculously comfortable. Obviously, Patagonia is a little pricey, but for a great reason. It is a quality product and you will never regret your purchase. I purchased a size up from my normal size, for a little roomier/over-sized fit, and am so happy that I did.

Not my favorite, still wear it daily

This isn't what I thought it was going to be, I expected something more like Patty's synchilla. This is a great layering piece, but it's not easy to wear alone if there is any wind. It's woven in a way that it's got almost a mesh like base with warm fuzzies over it, so wind goes right through it. I wear this a ton around the house and a ton under my ski jacket. Fit is great, like a cute, preppy sweatshirt. It is soft and warm. Perfect for lounging.

Warm fleece!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I want to wear this fleece all the time. It is extra warm and I like the loose, yet feminine fit. I ordered the fresh linen in a medium, and I am 5' 2" and 130 lbs.

Nice fleece, but runs small.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

Ordered the fleece for my daughter, but didn't realize it is a "slim" fit. Although she usually needs a medium, a medium was too small. Disappointed that it wasn't clear when I ordered that the fleece was a "slim" fit. I would have ordered a large. Unfortunately, there are no larges in stock now in the color she wants. Other than running small, it's a great fleece.

A Great Piece for Any Outdoor Collection

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

Size Reference: Female, broad-ish shoulders; 5' 4.75", 110 pounds, Chest ~34A. Normally take a size 0 and XS/S in clothes and dresses. I have this fleece in an XS.

BOTTOM LINE (... at the top): I generally adore this fleece. I've had it for about 3 years now, and I've found that it can be worn for days straight, and it still looks nice and fresh. Even after a few years, it still looks almost new with moderate use (heavy use during the winter, occasional use while camping in chilly nights in the summer).

FIT: For ordering the right size, I would suggest first determining what kind of look you're going for. I didn't want to look like I was swimming in the fleece; I wanted a slightly structured look, so I got the XS.

CONS: The XS looks nice, but I wish it had more stretch. It slightly compromises my range of motion when I want to do activities that require a lot of movement, and my midriff peeks through, which has been a little bothersome since I have to pair it with the right layers underneath (ones that go well past the top of my hips). For me, this fleece does not withstand cold gusts of wind (especially coming up from the bottom since it's a bit short); it seems like it goes right through the fabric (UNLIKE Patagonia's Synchilla version). However, if it's not too windy, this jacket keeps me super toasty.

PROS: Apart from it keeping me warm when it's not too windy, or extra toasty as a layer underneath a shell or down coat, it is definitely comfortable as a lounging piece. The fabric feels really nice on my skin, and the little hint of shine is a nice complement to an outdoorsy, more tomboy-ish piece of clothing. Because I was going for the more structured look, I really love the collar and the shoulders which have kept their shape wonderfully. The collar does not droop even after years of wearing it while hanging out, doing climbing warm-ups, sleeping in it while camping, & hiking (and walking my dog, of course!). Another good piece from a fantastic company.

What is the center back length of a medium?

Love it!

In the words of a friend whom I purchased this for as a gift:
I've used this fleece a few times up rock climbing and have worn it around town. The fleece is very warm and great to throw on after climbing and when belaying my partner. I love the front pocket. Great for quickly warming up my hands! I've also found this looks really cute with a pair of jeans when running around town.

Love This Classic

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'll admit my love affair with Patagonia freely. Their stuff is awesome and hasn't disappointed me yet through a LOT of heavy use. This fleece is no exception.

The re-tool fleece is a really nice thick, high pile fleece that does NOT shed. The colors are vibrant and there is a great selection. The fleece itself is warm and cozy. I've used it in a variety of situations but my favorite has always been on boats - this is a great weight to block some wind and be warm after scuba diving or free-diving in cooler waters or pop on at the end of a long day on deck when the sun goes down.

This is true to size and consistent with other patagonia products. The fit is somewhat roomy and the cut is straight.

I absolutely love this product. My only complaint is that my first is so good, I have no need in the future to buy another one!

Cute and cozy.

I bought this jackey this past spring, and it quickly became my favorite fleece. It's slightly bulky, not great for layering underneath other jackets but I mostly wear it on its own with a light wool layer and am kept plenty warm even on chilly spring mornings (and I am always cold!). It's a very soft style of fleece, less like TNF Denali jacket and more like Mountain Hardwear monkey fleeces. Originally I bought the blue color but when it arrived it was a little too fluorescent for my taste. So I returned it, and instead went with the gray with purple trim and am quite pleased. I wear a medium in most shirts/jackets and this was no different.

Awesome!

Super warm fleece and has more of a feminine shape. It is a tad bit of a weird fit, I did go up to a medium due to the small being a bit snug, but I easily could have gotten away with the small (just too short for my height)

Classic

Classic styling, great for layering, and legendary Patagonia quality make this an awesome gift for the ladies in your life! Not to mention the men's version is just as great!

Patagonia Fleece Pullover

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Just love Patagonia products and when I saw this Fleece Pullover, I ended up buying three of them. I wear the heck out of Fleece clothing (live in the cold climes of Gunnison, CO) be it for skiing or being at home. This Re-tool Snap is true to size, great colors, washes wonderfully and keeps me toasty warm.
