Description

The Patagonia Down Sweater gives you warmth and weather resistance for your alpine pursuits in an 11-ounce package.

Stay toasty at your high-altitude base camp or on your winter trek with the Patagonia Women's Down Sweater. Patagonia stuffed this lightweight, streamlined Women's Down Sweater with high-quality 800-fill goose down and wrapped it in a windproof, tear-resistant, and water-repellent shell. Quilted construction ensures the down won't clump and leave empty spots where your body heat can seep out; plus, this quilting gives this regular-fit jacket a feminine shape. An internal stretch-mesh pocket on the Down Sweater doubles as a stuff sack—this jacket takes up hardly any room in your pack.

Can anyone tell me the color difference between the "Marachino" "Garnet" and "Fire"? Thanks.

Responded on

Maraschino and Fire are quite similar. The Garnet color is a bit more muted.

Great buy!

I bought this down sweater as a birthday gift for my partner and she absolutely loves it. The fit is great and it is exactly what she wanted. Now I want one too! Shipped super fast as well.

Score points with the GF and get her this Coat!

Wife loves this coat and has been wearing it all October. Down that doesn't make you look like the Michelin man or roast you in cool temps. She's planning on wearing it under her shell this winter.

Her friends are jealous.

Really Nice

This is my 2nd Patagonia DownSweater. Size runs big and perhaps a little too short. I usually wear Medium (8-10) or even like Large for loose fitting (I'm slim and 5'9"), but this 2nd one I chose Small, I wanted something really snug and I'm delighted with it, sleeves are long enough and with a sweater underneath it's perfect. Does peek an occasional feather, i just cut it off. Wery warm and toasty, I wear it all Quebec winter around, often as my outer layer or with an outer layer went cold is too nasty. Just love it! And maraschino color is beautiful!
Great vest.

Perfect for active lifestyles in Alaskan winter

I got this jacket for dry winter temps between 10F and -15F since I try not to wear my "Michelin man" jacket until it's below -15F. It is perfect for that.. or for XC skiing at 40 below, as well as staying warm during cool evenings in the summer. XC skiing with this jacket around 0 degrees I've found is too warm. Once you produce heat in it, it is VERY toasty! But below -15F, get out your puffy coat!

Light and compact

I bought two of them - one for me and one for my husband. We both ordered our regular size "medium" and it fits just fine. It is very light and will pack into its pocket. That's great when you need to take it on a hiking trip and have to carry with you because of changing weather. We had no opportunity to wear it yet as it is summer right now. However, it fits perfectly under our GORETEX jackets so it should be warm enough with additional layers. It shipped quickly, but delivery was a bit complicated because of Canadian customs sending it back and forth. We also got a big surprise from Canadian customs - outside of the shipping, they charged additional $150 for duty and GST. So, instead of $200, we paid $300 for each sweater. If you can, order through a retail store in Canada. It should save you some money on currency conversion and duty.

Great Winter Travel Jacket

I bought this jacket with a winter trip to New Zealand in mind. It is cut a bit large, but was also very comfortable with layers - including a wool sweater - underneath. I plan on using this jacket for camping, and could see how it would double as a pillow if necessary. The jacket is also very light weight, and stuffs into small places easily. Highly recommended!

I'm tall and slim-ish and have exceptionally long arms. I'd like to get the women's version of this, but often sleeve length is too short. Does anyone have a large or extra large that they could measure for the sleeve length?

Responded on

These do have longer than normal sleeves. Sleeve length is 34.5" for the Large, 35.5" for the XL.

I'm wanting to buy a down sweater for backpacking- looking at several wonder which one is best- back country luft, mermot venus, patagonia or something else?

Best Answer Responded on

The Patagonia Down Sweater is tough to beat. 800 fill down is nice and light, packable, warm when you need it to be, but doesn't overheat super easily. I love taking mine backpacking, it can double as a pillow as well.

Patagonia Down Sweater Ws

Sumptuous jacket. Gorgeous color. However, it is too small in the hips and does not cover the posterior. For $200.00 I expect all that. It should be fitted like the Lily Jacket that is more woman friendly.
However, if you are not at all the "hippy" type;
want a short, light jacket that looks pretty cool, and cost is no object; this is the one for you.

Anyone having this jacket in XL? Can you tell me the back length measurement from the neck seam. Also the measurement across the bottom, flat, from seam to seam?
Thanks! Astrid

Responded on

27" for center back length. Based on Swoon's answer below for the small being 17", I'd say the 1/2 hem measurement would be around 20".

Responded on

I would approximate the XL by adding 3" to the chest and hip ; and 7" to the waist measurements according to the size chart (using the higher number in the range given in the size chart).

Great coat.

If you like to play outside, and you don't want to be hampered by the cold, this is the piece for you. It's 800-fill goose down; it doesn't get much warmer than that. What I love the most about it is that it's also very compact, so you're not going to feel like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Because I live and play in Alaska, it's hard to tell when things are going to get a bit chilly in the evenings. I bring mine camping with me. Stuffed into its pocket, it makes a pretty decent pillow for a mummy bag, but since it's serving double duty as a warm-up, I don't feel guilty at all about the extra space or ounces.

Highly recommended!

... I wore this a few times now and not loosing any downs, so I am very pleased with my purchase. I highly recommend this if you are looking for a light, warm and compact down jacket to wear when you reached the peak - it compressed down very well, so it takes up hardly any room in the backpack. I take this along whenever I go snowshoeing or hiking and put it on when I reached the peak while I admire the scenery.
I have the red one and definitely will buy another one next year, in another color.

Love it!

This is my second Patagonia down sweater. I purchase a larger size than I would normally wear as I need to have room to layer and I don't mind the losse fit anyway.
Maraschino Red will take me everywhere in States or Asia. I ordered the medium and am probably a small. The peacock blue is also beautiful but maybe next year.

Responded on

Is the marachino really red? I was told it might be described as Pinkish Red. would like to get an idea of the difference in color between the "garnet" and "fire" (mens) Thanks!

Exactly what I need!

This jacket fits a bit big - it is a "regular fit". I originally ordered my normal size small and found the shoulder wide and sleeve length long. I downsized to an Xsmall and it fits snug, not tight, around the waist and the rest fits just right, so this is a keeper.

It performed as promised, windproof, light and warm. Looks-wise: I compared it with the North Face Thunder down and much preferred this. Although, the shoulder is wider and sleeves longer than the North Face, I found that the overall look is more tailored, less puffy and "classier" - no large logos in front and back (only a small discreet tag on the hem) and fabric not shiny.
I highly recommend this, especially the "marishino" red, it is a nice and cheerful red and no dark feathers showing through. So far (worn a couple of times), no feather poking through ... yet.
Here's the Xsmall jacket measurements (measured laying flat from the back) -
Shoulder 15"; Sleeves 24"; Waist 16.5"; Under arm 19"; Neck to hem at back 23" (front slightly shorter)
The Patagonia Xsmall fits almost equivalent to the North Face Thunder Small.

Disappointed

I ordered the cream color and the fabric was so thin you could see the feathers. I loved how light weight and compressable it was, but I don't think it would be very warm. It does run on the big side. I might try it again, in a dark color.

Lovely mid-layer.

I wear my Patagonia Down Sweater underneath my rain shell and I'm waterproof and warm! I love it. I can't wait to go on vacation and pack this into its own pocket.

Meh....

Thought the color was great on the bright green version of this jacket, but the fit was off. I am tall and slender and this jacket is not made for my body type. It also runs large to say the least (I ordered a large and it was ENORMOUS width-wise). I returned it for the North Face Thunder Down jacket and couldn't be happier.

Write your question here... Sorry...another question. I have a down sweater that measures 19" across,( from left to right), at its narrowest point, when the jacket is lying on the floor zipped up. This is the narrowest point where it would fit at your belly. It measures 23" from the top of the zipper to the bottom of the zipper up and down. This is a perfect fit!!! Do you have measurements across, up and down on the women's medium and large so i know what size to order? Thanks so much.

Responded on

I don't have the measurements for medium or large but I have the small (measuring laying flat) - shoulder 16", sleeves 25" (measuring from the shoulder seam to sleeve hem), waist 17", back length (neck to hem) 23" - front is slightly shorter. Also, the chest - measuring from the back, laying flat, under the arm 19". I hope the information helps.
