Description

Tons of extra core insulation, and hardly any weight.

Patagonia insulated the Women's Down Sweater Vest with lofty 800-fill down to keep your core incredibly warm without stifling you in bulky insulation. In fact, this versatile Patagonia vest weighs a mere 204 grams. The DWR-coated 22D polyester shell helps keep the weight down while it fights off light rain on a drizzly day. You can also compress the Down Sweater Vest to an incredibly small size, so it'll fit in your pack any day.

best vest ever

this has to be my favorite vest for layering - alone, it is fragile (as noted below) , however, i have found that it's layering capabilities far outshine it's fragility. I use it mostly under a solid shell for colder winter outings and by itself on warmer ones. I am 5'5 @ 125lbs - and bought this in the small, it falls right at the top of my hips - slim thru the waist.

I like this vest, especially the "Patagonia" trademark I am finding of nice, long length in their products. This particular one seems fragile in the material, though, I sent it back (had a small hole). It is still especially warm as a layering piece.

nice but fragile

I'm on the fence about which size I'm keeping. The XS is slim and the waist curves in really nicely. The chest is slightly snug, though, and my boobs squish down. I'm a 32" bust. Not considered large at all. The small, however, is baggier everywhere else and it fits much less flattering as a result. It's boxier for sure but there's more breathing room in the chest. This info might help someone who is borderline XS/S and is pretty curvy. Thankfully, with Backcountry's return policy I can decide carefully without making a snap decision being pressured to get it back within 30 days.

which size did you end up keeping? How do you use yours? I'm on the same size fence issue, thanks for the feedback!

I teach Ice skating in this vest in one of the coldest Ice rinks in Denver. I also use it trail running in the cold and yesterday in 9 degree weather I had to take a layer underneath it off!

I bought this as a Christmas gift and it was certainly a hit. This vest is very warm and looks great. It does fit just a touch on the big side.

I love this vest. It has a great feminine fit and I love the cherry red!

I'm 5'9" with a very long torso....this vest was plenty long and kept me warm on a backpacking trip a few weeks ago. It also made a nice pillow :o)

I have the "sky" color. It's actually a peacock blue, and it is the prettiest vest I've ever seen. Goes with black, melon, orange, greens, and marigold yellow.... chocolate, rust. . . all motifs from Indian to modern . .
Figure flattering. Not too hot.... light. . .

And now I'm really bummed because apparently this color has been discontinued and I wanted to buy another one in this peacock blue color, and they are discontinuing it.

I wear it for everything. I want a good one and a sports one... I use it rollerblading at the beach over a swimsuit and shorts....'PLEASE BRING BACK THIS COLOR!!!!

Patagonia down vest is fantastic. The color stays vibrant after repeat washes. Excellent for mild weather changes. Can't go wrong with this one. I have 2 and hope to buy another.

Very light weight vest; very warm; good enough cut for women and doesn't make you look chunky; useful inside pocket; patagonia is my choice due to its man made fabric recycling.

My wife really likes this vest. It insulates well yet is not really puffy and uncomfortable. You can wear it under a shell and it doesn't make you look like the Michelin man. Durable yet very lightweight. 800 fill weight and packs down small.

She wears them in the outdoors and also for casual wear. It is amazing how much warmer you stay if your core is insulated.

This vest gets more wear than anything else in my closet. It's warm, it's light, it's comfy, it's layer-able, and it's fantastic! From October through April, I wear this layered over my sweatshirts and under my jacket shells out on the frozen tundra of Minnesota. It's truly my favorite clothing; I feel like I cuddled into a toasty sleeping bag every time I put it on. It's also easy to clean in the washer and dryer (hint: make sure to throw a clean tennis ball in the dryer with the vest to prevent feather clumping). It does lose a few little feathers here and there (my only complaint), but this is one piece of clothing that is worth twice what it costs!

Is the color red sort of a red/orange or is it more of a tomato red? Thanks!

Toni,
The Real Red is definitely more of a tomato red, and there's not much orange in it. The image above shows the color incorrectly.

I have always thought Patagonia products ran big. Even when I tried this vest on it was a good fit in an xs. I am 5'6 115 lbs. Is this just a different model than the other downs? I don't want to order to big... i want it snug...

Patagonia offers two down vests, the Down Sweater Vest here, and the Fitz Roy Down Vest. Fit's are a little different between the two, and the Down Sweater Vest runs fairly true to size or a touch small. sounds like the XS should be good for you

This vest is really warm and packable. I used my sister's Patagonia Down Vest on a backcountry ski trip last year, and I had to buy one for myself. I'd size up if you're borderline.
