The Patagonia Men's A/C Short-Sleeve Shirt features a fine organic cotton weave that acts like air con for your skin when the weather's hot. This regular-fit shirt's collar won't curl in humid weather, and a straight hem with side vents looks good tucked in or left out.
Bottom Line: Who needs air conditioning when you have the organic cotton Patagonia A/C Shirt?
The perfect shirt for heat and humidity. Very light weight with an open weave, that is likely part of the durability issue. My oldest version in on its 4th year and has been dedicated to beach and camping use exclusively. Probably best to try one on first for sizing. As we all know, Patagonia changes the fit of much of their clothing annually. I own 2 larges and 2 mediums and they fit about the same. All-in-all a favorite shirt for life in the islands.
Saved me from the vicious heat of vietnam & oklahoma. Very comfortable but only wish they would have made the shoulder stitching backpack friendly. The cotton is a bit corse against your skin if you need to wear a backpack. BUT I don't think that was the intensions of the shirt... Overall great shirt, bought 2.

Great button down with the right cut to be worn both at the office and at the pub. One of my must-have shirts for traveling as it doesn't need any special attention and seems to resist the funk better than others.
This shirt really does allow the breeze to pass right through, yet still feels very sturdy and durable. It's super soft against the skin and has a really nice loose, but not baggy, fit. Looking forward to pulling this shirt out on those hot summer days.
I really like this shirt. It is very thin and lightweight, and breathes exceptionally well. For hot days, it really can't be beat. It seems to fit pretty much true-to-size, but slightly on the loose side. It seems well-made, and the color selections are nice. It is definitely long enough to tuck in, but also looks fine untucked. For a cool, casual shirt, it would be hard to top this one.
This is one of the most comfortable casual shirts I have ever owned for warm days and nights. Fits loosely, but not baggy. Super light, breathable cotton fabric. I get compliments all the time on the colors too.
This is by far my pick for a summer shirt. Very light, vents well, a bit classier than a tank top. I originally only bought one and now have four as they were well worth it. If you're looking for a button down summer shirt, this is the one.
These shirts are truly comfortable. Unfortunately, ordering two shirts of the same size doesn't mean you will receive two shirts of the same size. When one is 1 1/2 inches shorter than the other one, there's poor quality control somewhere.
I ordered a couple of these. Despite a quality problem with one shirt (as others have mentioned), Backcountry immediately made it right and shipped a replacement shirt before my vacation (Many THANKS, Backcountry!)
Both shirts were as advertised -- cool, comfortable, attractive, well made. They were the most comfortable, airy shirts on my vacation to a frequently visited favorite spot, which happens to have a tropical hot and humid climate.
Pantagonia is made for quality, so not sure what's up with the mfg defects, but definitely, these shirts are Worth It! I only wish there were a few more solid colors and a few more versions made of this same material. Pants would be great too. Not as rigid as seersucker, but with a crinkly appearance, soft, and airy without being revealing, these really are perfect. I guess I've said that before so it's time to end this review.
Thanks to Backcountry for saving my vacation and taking care of me. Honestly, the best customer service I've experienced in a long time!
I tried to order the Patagonia A/C Shirt twice, the first time from another seller, the second from Backcountry. I returned the first one because it was missing a button and a button hole on the bottom so that it looked like the shirt started to part right about 2/3 of the way down. I'm not sure how Patagonia missed that, but for $70 I thought they could do better. My second order from Backcountry was better, but the shirt doesn't look quite even in the front when I leave it untucked, so I've resigned it to the most casual wear and nothing where looking neat is required. Of course, the delivery service from Backcountry was great, and I highly recommend them as a seller. As for the Patagonia A/C shirt, it's a great, lightweight summer material, but there's definitely more value in shirts from other manufacturers, the organic component notwithstanding.
I bought the Patagonia A/C Shirt for my boyfriend to wear to work, casually, and for dinners out with the parents and me. He looks great in it...it's comfortable...and it's cool. What more could you ask for? He's 6'1", 185 lbs, and a large is perfect.
This is my favorite short sleeve shirt. It wears like a piece of gauze. I wear it on business trips to south Texas (very breathable), dayhikes (it dries really quickly), and for every occasion in between (it's soft and durable). I'll continue to get a new one (or two) every year that Patagonia keeps making them.
When I bought this shirt I didn't take the time to read the description. I just really liked the shirt. Then I got it and wore it on a hot SLC day. Holy crap, this is the coolest shirt (literally) I've ever worn. Perfect for 90+ degree days. I advise getting the entire collection. They're sooooo choice!
Boom. Definitely pick this up if you are looking at it on S&C. Super airy and breezy, a must for those of us cold weather folks traveling south. more...
