Why We Like The Outdoor Research Aspire Super Stretch Jacket

When snagging summits and sends, we stuff the Outdoor Research Aspire Super Stretch Jacket in our pack. The high-tech build armors us against the mountain's outburst, shielding us from icy gusts and sudden downpours with its ultralight, highly breathable GORE-TEX PACLITE construction. To ensure we can still scramble unrestricted, Outdoor Research placed a high-stretch insert panel in the upper back that's just as breathable and weatherproof as the rest of this technical shell. As the heat starts to build, we open the side vents, boosting airflow through the grind.

Exactly the jacket I was looking for!

I needed a waterproof jacket for a 4 day expedition race. The versatility of this jacket made it the perfect waterproof layer. The jacket breathed well, especially with the side vents. I stayed dry during a downpour. It kept the wind out while biking overnight. I paired it with a thin down and was comfortable when the temperatures dropped. The fit was as expected and flattering. I wouldn't have changed a thing about it.

Love this jacket

I recently wore this as a waterproof layer over a puffy jacket during a moderate snowshoe trip and also in decent "Seattle" rain and stayed dry. I've only worn twice so far and I love it.

Excellent Rain Coat for Outdoor Activites

I bought this coat because it said "super stretch" and it is just that. I bike in the rain frequently and I love how this jacket is so thin and stretchy. I use it as a waterproof top layer to whatever I'm wearing and I am obsessed that the side zippers go from pit to hip. It's truly one of the most versatile jackets I own.

Amazing Warranty

This jacket was a warranty replacement for an older raincoat I bought from Outdoor Research. I am so happy with the warranty service and will go out of my way to buy Outdoor Research over other brands because of how I was treated.

Get this jacket!

What a great jacket! I choose the beautiful blue. I was concerned the stretch panel in the back might look strange but it provides an attractive and useful accent. It fits true to size. I prefer a double zip front but the side zipper vents allow the same flexibility and ventilation. It has a zippered chest pocket which I feel is essential. And of course, it performs great in the rain. The jacket is lightweight and the material moves easily with me. I would definitely recommend this jacket.

Great for Curvy Girls!

I just got my aspire and love it! Finally, a technical sports jacket with brilliant side zips that accommodate those of us with hips! Can't wait to break it in on the trails and slopes!

Actually waterproof!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket does exactly what it set out to do: keep you dry and move with you. I got stuck in a number of storms while backpacking-this jacket kept me dry, and the zippers allowed me to regulate my temperature. 10/10 would recommend. Also, the rhubarb color is gorgeous-I've gotten many compliments!

Took to Everest Base Camp and North Pole

I wore an earlier version of this jacket to hike to Everest Base Camp and it was amazing so I bought this jacket for the summer 2023 North Pole Marathon. It worked great. I like that the newer version has the stretchy breathable spot in the back and the side zippers at the waist. The temps for the North Pole marathon were upper 20s, sunny, and light wind. I layered with a light long sleeve t-shirt and light weight running top (from another company), and this jacket over. I was a little surprise to see water droplets on the inside of the jacket when I finished the race. I think it was because we had to wear a life preserver on the ice and so the sweat could not vent. I was also wearing it for 4 1/2 hours. I felt like the jacket was just enough thickness to block the wind and insulate without being too heavy.

Versatile, comfortable, and bright!

I love this jacket! It is excellent for spring adventures in the mountains. It breaths well and has plenty of vents to keep cool. It's lightweight and packs down fairly small! The teal color is very bright and beautiful. For my spring skiing and mountaineering, I can't imagine using any other jacket!

Bright, comfortable, and PFC-free!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was so hard for me to find a rain jacket that checked all the boxes: 1) stretchy for mobility, 2) PFC-free coating, 3) good ventilation, 4) a bright color so I'm visible while biking. This jacket is perfect! The rhubarb shade is a bit more warm orangey-red than I expected, but I still love the color and get lots of compliments on it. I'm 5'10", 165 pounds, and am typically between a M/L or 8/10. I probably could have fit in the Medium but I sized up to a Large so I would have room to layer and the fit is great -- roomy but not too oversized.
