The shoe gurus at New Balance took the popular 1400 and helped it lose a little weight by tweaking the uppers, and then something magical happened—the Men's 1400v2 Racing Comp Running Shoe was born. The same Revlite foam you know and love is used in the midsole so every step is sweet, and the blown rubber sole provides plenty of traction and support. Whether you're logging miles on the road or the treadmill, this offering from New Balance is sure to be a favorite part of your footwear arsenal.
In order to ditch some grams, as well as increase comfort, designers ditched the lightweight mesh and instead, opted for an open-air mesh that breathes incredibly well, in addition to being lightweight. Sweaty feet aren't pleasant, and this breathable mesh provides ample access for fresh air to reach your hard-working paws. No sew construction eliminates unnecessary fabric and minimizes the chances of chafing. A TPU overlay gives a bit of support without creating hot spots and pressure points.
Revlite foam fills out the midsole for a soft landing and sweet lift-off. The 10mm heel-forefoot drop works well for heel-heavy footstrikes without completely discouraging a slow gravitation toward midfoot, if you're slowly switching. The NBJ last gives the 1400v2 a close, comfortable fit. And thanks to the lower volume throughout the instep and toe box, your toes have room to spread during toe-off but won't be free to flop around when they're not doing something useful.
