Why We Like The Mystery Ranch Coulee 20L Backpack
Mystery Ranch put just as many thoughtful details in their day hike-oriented Coulee 20L Backpack as they do in their multi-day packs. Using the micro-adjustable Lightweight Trail yoke and load-adjustable straps, we can find our perfect fit and balance for intense days on the trail and quick excursions to our local swimming hole. One of the most interesting and convenient features of this pack is the 3 ZIP opening: the top opens with a quick-pull two-zipper lid, and an additional zipper down the center of the pack expands the main compartment so we can access contents more easily.

Amazing pack
Hello, I am going to make somewhat the same comment as for my Radix 47. I needed a bag for the day only, so I chose the Coulee 20, and I am absolutely not disappointed, this bag is wonderful like the other bags of the brand. Super comfortable, a ton of possibilities, enough room to put everything I need for a day!!! Well done MR, great job

Outstanding lightweight daypack
I just got this a couple of weeks ago, and did a 7.5 mile hike last Sunday. The pack was light, the yoke / support felt great (like a real pack), the ventilation over my back was good, and it was easily accessible. My 2023 iPhone fit in the hipbelt pocket and you don't notice it's there, but I don't know if one of the phones with a larger camera or screen would.

Great pack, great price, really impressed.
Was looking for a daily bag to replace my old ODAP. This is similar in form factor, affordable, and high quality.

Wrong Color on Website
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
If you're looking at the Stone color, just be warned it's an army green color, not the light tan color pictured. Super disappointed as I needed this for a trip but don't want to keep a color I don't love. Please update with accurate colors, this feels like an ongoing issue with Backcountry.

Just got this pack and on its first trip the water bladder holder broke. Didn't even do anything was getting something out of the pack and noticed it was hanging strange.

The Coulee 20 is a great pack!
I own several Mystery Ranch packs - I love all of them. I purchased the Coulee 20 for myself and two children - we all own the Coulee 32 and use the pack for hiking and climbing. We wanted to get a slightly smaller pack for shorter routes or missions that required less equipment. We have since used the Coulee 20 for a climb of the Half Dome Cables Route in Yosemite National Park and just this last weekend to climb Castle and Conundrum Peaks (Fourteeners near Aspen, CO). The pack performed perfectly, and I will be using it on many more adventures. It is light, comfortable, and able to fit all the necessary equipment for many types of hikes and climbs. Highly recommended!

Comfortable and compressible
Great little pack, so far I've used it for EDC but will use it for dayhikes, as well. For EDC, I fit my laptop, papers, notebook, coffee and water bottles in the front pocket. I also packed a change of clothes for the gym and stuffed my climbing shoes in the side pockets where they stayed firmly in place and I had the lower compression straps for extra security. When I removed several items from the pack and compressed using all four compression straps, I was really pleased with how the pack evenly compressed and maintained a low-profile and close-to-back carry. Very adjustable and comfortable pack, durable materials, attention to detail. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a day-hiking or outdoorsy-looking EDC pack.

Great light hiking pack!
Great pack! I also have the scree 32 and this feels like it can fit almost just as much because of the two back pockets. very comfortable and the features on this pack make sense!

Great Pack, except...
This is my summer day hiking pack, Bridger 35 for winter day hiking pck.. Love the yoke and waist belt, perfect for 20-25 lb loads on long day hikes. Today was my third and most challenging hike so far with this pack. 8 km roundtrip with about 450 metres of elevation gain, half of it light bushwhacking. The not so good: I got a tear in the pack after brushing against a branch, ugh. I guess time for tape.

Great daypack for European travel.
I bought this smaller version of the Coulee 26 I already owned because I needed a smaller daypack for a trip to Europe. Like my Coulee 26, I comfortably carried 18-20 pounds with the hip belt removed. It was the perfect size for the many museums we visited—they have restrictions on the size of daypacks that can be carried inside. The full compartment zipper made it ideal for exposing the entire contents for the mandatory entry inspection of your pack’s contents. The two exterior sleeves and two water bottle holders were a handy plus. Naturally, this pack won’t go to waste. I plan to use this smaller pack for my shorter day hikes and keep using my Coulee 26 for longer ones. Once again, Mystery Ranch has delivered a quality pack.
