Why We Like The Mountain Hardwear Stretchdown Parka
Mountain Hardwear's Stretchdown Parka brings the freedom-focused Stretchdown construction to a more casual look with extra coverage against the cold. The longer silhouette, paired with the elastic-bound cuffs, hem, and hood, provides a larger barrier between our bodies and the ice-cold winter air. But the added length doesn't impede mobility; the Stretchdown construction weaves pockets of RDS-certified down into the parka, letting the fabric keep its stretch so we can retain our full range of motion.

Great puffer
This parka is an everyday wear for me. I have been able to wear a t-shirt underneath in 30 degree weather and feel warm. Very happy with my purchase.

One of my favorites
Couple of things. This did run big for me. I wear an xl in everything and had to size down to a L. Also it's more of a parka, if you like back coverage, you will like this. The stretch is really nice on this too, really lets you move. The hood is a good size, not to small or big and it stays in place. Good amount of pockets, which is good for my uses. The fabric has a nice hand to it also, much softer than your normal puffer. My one gripe is the hand pockets are only lined on the side facing the back of my hand. I would have like the whole pocket to be lined for when I run out without gloves. Outside of that, this jacket is a ticks a lot must haves for me.

Great jacket
Very warm fits just right. Not to big or loose perfect for cold night

Hardware not up to par on Mountain Hardware
One would think that a specialty jacket from Mountain Hardware would have solid hardware like heavy duty zippers but these are problematic and take forever to zip up

90% good
90% of the way there. It’s warm, it stretches, the hood is solid, the pockets are well designed. The only two drawbacks are the cuffs and zipper. There are no cuffs so the ends of the sleeves get drafty. I’m going to have a seamstress make some cuffs. I wish they had used more robust zippers that work better.

Great quality and feel , missing design elements affecting it's usability
It's great but missing few stuff. Things like thumb loop or extra sleeve at the wrists or water resistance of outer layer. It leaves cold air to get it .

Shadow of a glory past
I have had many MWH gear over the years, whole GORE-TEX ski outfit, Monkey jacket and vest, and many more. Unfortunately this jacket is not living to its heritage. Subpar main zipper, no storm flapper to protect it and no adjustable cuffs. Poorly designed despite the baffles and exterior shell which seemed very nice. I had to return it.

Great purchase!
My husband loves this parka - he loves all of the pockets, the length and the color.

Just in time
This is a great jacket. Fit is good and extremely warm too. Just after showing down the temperature dropping into the 20's and we got a N.E. wind.

Warm and nice but not waterproof at all
Not waterproof/resistant - wet snow or rain soaks right through immediately. Ordered a size down and it fits although the main body is still very wide. Nice pockets and features and very warm. Just wish it did better in snow...
