Mountain Hardwear readied the Women's Downhill Parka for backcountry skiing and styled it for the city. Q.Shield treats the parka's lofty 700-fill down insulation with permanent water repellency that helps maintain its warmth when wet. It would be very difficult to dampen the down though, because the durable shell's AirShield treatment gives additional water-resistance as well as wind-resistance.
The Downhill Parka also features zippers at each underarm for ventilated airflow, and the powder skirt offers additional protection from the backcountry's deep snow. Its drop hood cinches snugly with or without a helmet on, and the adjustable hem and cuffs seal out cold drafts. Inner Butter Jersey cuffs provide a comfortable way to keep bad weather out of the sleeves. Recco's avalanche rescue reflector may help Recco-equipped ski patrols find stuck skiers in the backcountry during emergencies.
