Mountain Equipment's Aurora III 5-Degree Synthetic Sleeping Bag is the bag you want in harsh, wet, and down-right cold mountain environs. Utilizing two different types of synthetic insulation, both the Climashield Apex and Prism synthetic insulation have been treated with a DWR finish to repel moisture and allow the bag to maintain insulating properties when things get wet. A stripped-down design gives this bag simple functionality and a relatively light weight.
Hovering right around 3lb 12oz, the Aurora III is a viable option for long-haul winter trips, hut-to-hut ski tours, and shoulder season backpacking. The bag's lightweight and compressible Helium 50 fabric keeps it compressible when saving pack space is key. The Aurora sports a draft tube and collar, which work in concert with a slim-fitting hood to lock in warmth during cold nights.
