    Great quality, great price

I received these as a gift (though I nudged the gift giver to buy it for me haha) and I am very happy with them. Since receiving them only about three months ago, I've put in over thirty miles on them and they've worn well. I wore them hiking the beaches of Point Reyes, hard packed trails in Yosemite, and most recently while backpacking in the Santa Cruz mountains. They've done some stream walking with me and held up very well. I didn't have any leaks, though my feet did get cold. The only time I got wet feet was when standing above a waterfall, but that was because the water came up and over my ankle. The only drawback is that they could use just a little bit more ankle support, but it's not been a huge issue for me yet. They're an awesome price with a really low break in period. I highly recommend them!

    Comfy and Durable

I got these boots as a general all purpose hiking shoe. I have given these shoes a beating. Worn them on many hikes and they perform well. Virtually no break in period and provide decent ankle support. I have a moderately wide foot and these don't rub or feel tight at all.

Pros: Durable, water-resistant, comfortable, lightweight, great traction.

Cons: Have to stop and tie them frequently

    Not what I expected

They are great for every day wear, flat ground hiking, dry trails. They are not waterproof. I was out in the pouring rain and the tops of my feet got soaked. There also is no ankel support.

    My Go-To Hiking Boot

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Before purchasing, I was worried that these boots were going to be very big and chunky. I prefer trail runners for hiking, but I needed something to wear for backcountry pack backing.

I really like how supported my ankles are supported in these boots. The only complaint that I have is that I cannot get my boots laced at the top as tight was I would like them.

The cushioning in the heel is wonderful and the waterproof protection is a life-saver. The tread is also great. I've hiked in snow and ice and felt stable.

** For sizing - make sure you get a half size larger!

I have had my moab's for about 5 years now and they are still in GREAT shape for being through hell and back! I have worked in Yellowstone for about 10 months, along with numerous other trips before and after, and they have been sturdy and continued to be waterproof without any sprays or extra waterproofing of any kind! They laces have been in tact, no rips or kinks. The soles have held up great and overall no rips in seams of any kind. Just DIRTY! I did buy the 8.5 and I shoulda got the size 9. This has caused a lost toe nail or two (which is my fault) so make sure you get a half size up if youre in between like me!

    The Best Boots

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I've never been a fan of big boots, I have always preferred using my trail runners for hiking and backpacking. But I was finally put in a position where I really did need a solid supportive boot for hiking 10 hours a day during geology field camp. I did a lot of research, and settled with the mid-rise goretex Merrell's, and I couldn't be any happier with them!

To start, they are incredibly comfortable. They are fairly easy to break in- I only got one minor blister the first day, and that was it. They offer support for the ankles, and fit my average-narrow foot very well. They are also very durable and grip well on wet/dry surfaces. I was running around on rocks all day every day, and they couldn't have held up any better. The goretex is also very effective- I used them in a couple feet of snow (for lack of having any snow boots) and they kept my feet dry all day. I've also walked through flowing water with them on, and didn't feel a drop. As far as sizing goes, I find them true to size, and the lacing system is perfect to get a customized fit.

Hands down the best boots I have ever tried- I will recommend these to anyone!

    Awesome!

These boots/shoes have really been there for me. I wore them trekking mountains in Nepal, during long airline flights, and daily walking my dog. They have kept my feet dry; protected my toes from rocks and my ankles from unstable ground. Very comfortable; didn't really have to break mine in. They look nice and are lighter feeling than most. Fits true to size. Couldn't be happier, except with those shoelaces that come untied! But thats not a biggie for me.

Great on lava, snow and rain!

I've had these shoes a year now and they still look like new. I've worn them in Hawaii and walked on lava, in NYC snow and sleet, in the rain and my feet have always felt dry. With a pair of Smart wool socks, I practically live in them all winter. They are not meant for super cold winters though. My toes were frozen while watching this years's (2013) Thanksgiving parade in NYC.

    I high

I recommend these shoes. They are tough, water resistant and breathes well. The only annoying thing are the shoe laces that keep coming undone unless I tight a double knot. It's already 2013, can't someone figure shoelaces that stay tied quickly and easily?

    Good quality

I bought these for my wife who usually wears a size 5.5 - 6 and she says they are a little big. She has a narrow foot so has to tie them down pretty snug so her foot doesn't slide around. Besides the fit being a bit off the quality is great and they are a nice lightweight hiking boot.

      Great Boots

I have had these boots for 2 years now and they are my go-to hiking boot. I think they are great for most seasons and keep dry in most conditions. The only times I was sore was after I hiked over 9 hours straight but I feel that any feet in any shoe would be sore. They have great ankle support and are very sturdy. The tread is pretty normal, nothing fancy but does the job. I do not have any issues with smell as the other users have had but I always air my boots out after a long hike. They have been through both extremes (Hawaii, and mid winter Adk's) and have held up great. My feet sweat a bit in these but I have never had any blisters.

        Waterproof and durable...

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought these shoes as a Christmas present for my wife. They had vibram soles, Gore-Tex waterproofing, and her favorite color; what more could I ask for? These are great shoes. She has had many great things to say about them, but the thing she loves the most is that they breathe well and keep her feet dry. The two things she said to warn buyers about is that they are a little narrow and they tend to smell. The smell is not a deal breaker, but after hiking several miles her pinky toe starts to become uncomfortable.

        Waterproof and durable...

        Comfortable but smelly

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am outdoors a lot hiking & walking dogs. I go through hiking boots. This new pair is comfortable, but as soon as they got wet for the first time also became the smelliest new boots I have ever had. Disappointed.
