Get out there.

The low bulk and high performance of the Marmot Men’s Power Stretch Half-Zip Fleece Jacket are powered by extremely breathable and mobile Polartec Power Stretch fleece. Ideal for pursuing isolated panoramas that require some aerobic exertion to behold, this fleece fights off wind chills without suffocating you in the process. Zip up the collar when you need to trap heat and let it hang open when ventilation is number one on your list. Flat-lock seams hold this fleece jacket together so you don’t have to suffer the chafing of bulky construction lines.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

I really like how soft and comfortable the material is. I've been using it for a year and can see wear on the material just by washing or packing. I would not use it for rock climbing. I'm 5'10 190lbs and muscular and S is perfect, I like close fit.

How durable is the material for rock abrasion? And are the elbows articulated?

I wouldn't use it for rock climbing, I use it only for mountaineering and I can see it wearing it out after 1 year.

Great Mid Layer Top

I think Marmot has some fantastic colors and this top does not disappoint. On top of that the fleece they use is just warm enough while being low profile for layering with a base and a softshell. There are nose wipe zones on the cuffs, a high neck with zip, chest zip pocket and the stretch is no joke. For fit...I am 6' 2" 185 lbs. and have a large.

Can anyone compare this to the mountain hardwear microstretch fleece for me? key points of difference, if any?

Marmot Powerstretch fleece is 200 weight powerstretch all the way through. The Microstretch is 100 weight classic fleece (less wind resistant and not as stretchy), with stretch side panels. Powerstretch will be warmer and will work better as a standalone.

Highly Recommended

I use this when biking or hiking in cold weather, and it really does the job. I prefer to wear it without an undershirt, as the material feels good against the skin and is moisture wicking. Fits tight, and works wonderfully under a larger coat. A word of warning though, if you're going to put an iphone in the pocket while you run, prepare for some left nipple chaffage.
