Made for intense via ferrata climbing—shines on any terrain.

Mammut developed the Men's Ridge High GTX Boot specifically for grip on the iron stemples used in via ferrata climbing, but this boot excels in just about any type of hardcore backpacking. The IronGrip sole with integrated Sonar technology, flexible ribs, and special lugs give supreme traction not only on iron bars but on a wide variety of terrain. A pre-shaped tongue offers comfortable and secure fit, and a Gore-Tex Comfort Footwear membrane helps to keep out the elements.

The lightweight Ridge High GTX offers a direct, close proximity to the ground for ultimate feel while providing the supreme support of a high-cut boot. External TPU Motion Control offers reinforcement where you need it most for travelling on rugged backcountry terrain, while FeetMap climate regulation helps to keep your feet comfortable, even while you're hoofing it.

    Great Boot Until Early Breakage

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 9.5

I bought these boots last summer to replace a worn out pair of Merrells. As others have said, they run a bit narrow, which isn't unusual for technical style hiking boots, and the break in was short. They were comfortable and fit well on longer hikes and through some very wet days during monsoon season, but tend to make your feet a bit toasty during 90+° weather. I was starting to become quite fond of them until the second week of summer field work this year, when I went to lace them up and one of the metal tabs at the ankle snapped clean off. They're pretty much useless now and I'm back to wearing the old merrells. Mammut's warranty and repair policy requires you to return them through a Mammut shop or dealer, of which there are none that service footwear in my area--so it seems that I'm out $170 and pretty unsatisfied with these boots. Materials such as these should last longer than a year.

Bottom line--They run a bit narrow and don't breathe well, but are comfortable and get the job done. However, until they build the lacing cleats out of a stronger material, they aren't worth the expense.

    Super Comfy, But They Leaked

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 13

I've spent tons of money on hiking shoes over the years and it seems they are never quite right, as I have hard-to-fit feet and a couple of old arch injuries from stress fractures.

During a ski trip to the Salt Lake area, I went into the Backcountry store determined to finally find a comfortable pair of hiking shoes. After spending the better part of an afternoon trying on at least a dozen different models, I walked out with these Mammut Ridge High GTX boots.

I was initially really stoked because they had a nice heel cup, a great lacing system, a bomb-proof sole, and excellent arch support.

Unfortunately, disaster then struck. I went for my first long hike in the boots on a drizzly day through damp grass. After about 20 minutes, my feet first got all clammy, then my socks became fully soaked, and the boots started making a SPLOOSH SPLOOSH sound. The boots were leaking badly, especially the left one. It took two days for the insides to dry out.

Had to return them as defective. I'm not sure if I just got a defective pair, or the lack of water-tightness is a design flaw, but they leaked like a dinghy with it's drain plug missing. From some of the other reviews I've read here, it sounds like it was just a defective pair because several of the other reviewers declared them watertight.

    High quality but narrow fit

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Size 10

I've put roughly 60 miles on the boots hoping that they just simply needed to be broken in, but sadly they didn't. My feet are a 2e width so they'er slightly wider than average. The quality of the boots is great and definitely provided stiff ankle support. I haven't seen any wear and tear issues with the boots so far. But they'll probably be resold due to the sizing.

dont go cheap on your feet

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 11

i dont buy boots online, like to try them on and feel them out.this website popped up,and i saw alot of great boots.took my chance with the ridge high gtx.extremely comfortable to work in,great flexibility, and the sizing for me was dead on at a size 11,i am t trucker in a cold storage enviroment, and these are so much more comfortable then what you get at the malls.will buy these again.spend the xtra, cause a cheaper bott will hurt and fatigue you

Good Boot - weak metal tabs break

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 27.5

I love these boots, and wear them hiking in the Chilkat Mountains in Alaska... everything is great except that the small metal tab for lacing up the boot broke today, after maybe 15 days of use....

    Warranty?

Great boots just run a wee bit small

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small

Water proof, sleek, and durable. Need I say more? They are a little on the small side however, half a size up should do you justice.
