Not durable, but warm
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- Large
On the very first trip I took with this bag (Alaska backcountry ski/camp with cold temps) it ripped in the tent and was spewing down everywhere. The material just seems really thin and prone to finding snags. What I like about it is the thoughtful placement of the zippers and interior pocket. Otherwise, it is not a durable bag meant for real adventures in my opinion and the shoulders are a bit narrow. I would not buy again.

Favorite 0 degree bag I've ever slept in
This bag is money. I got this originally for overnight ski mountaineering trips in the springtime, which it obviously is perfect for, but started to include this bag in my hunting camping kit, especially as the season stretches into Oct/Nov. I was hesitant at first because I hate overheating and was worried I would be too hot in a 0 degree bag when it wasn't cold enough. I was stoked with how the bag performed on those hunts as it regulated heat well enough that I didn't sweat or over heat, but also kept plenty warm in the chilly mornings. Very comfortable bag, with a nice hood, phone storage so your battery doesn't drain and it packs down quite well for a 0 degree bag. 11/10 would recommend.

Most comfortable sleeping bag I've owned
The title says it all, the most comfortable and warmest bag I've ever owned. I take it with me hunting, fishing and camping.. although they are usually all the same.

ARM. ZIPPIES.
ARM. ZIPPIES. There is no better experience then making breakfast in the warmth of your bag through your arm zippies. Seriously its great. This is a very lofty and warm bag I have never been cold in it. In fact I once spent the night in a winter storm with the bag unzipped because I was far far to warm. It would be nice to see this bag made with a goretex windstopper or similar membrane for standalone bivying in nastier weather, but maybe im the only one who likes to suffer that much. The stuff sack that this bag comes with is not very good for two reasons: 1) It is not waterproof, in the coast mountains this is very very bad. 2) It packs the bag down into a giant block that does not fit very well into a pack. 3) it does not pack the bag down as small as it can go. All of these issues are easily alleviated by buying an aftermarket compression sack. Also this bag comes with a mammut branded eye shade, and ear plugs that match the color of the bag. Neat.

Great bag for winter traverses
The bag itself was perfect on a three day ski traverse across the Dolomites. The ability to use my arms without getting out of the bag on cold early morning starts made waking up 10x better. My only frustration was the stuff sack. It's not bad, but a beer cracked in my pack and it made it through the stuff sack leaving a nice IPA aroma on the bag once we set up camp. Could be user error but I just bought a different dry bag that packs down even smaller. This bag is everything you're looking for if you want to travel light through snowy mountains.

Perfect for Kilimanajaro
I bought the Mammut Protect Down Bag -18C to stay warm and get a good night sleep on a 7 day climb of Kilimanjaro in early July. This bag did just that and I'm glad I bought it as my friends that rented bags said they were a bit chilly in theirs. I am a stomach or side sleeper which can make finding a good sleeping bag difficult. This bag worked well for me to do both. Stomach sleeping was a bit awkward but I turned the bag 90 degrees so the zipper was on the side and it worked ok. Some sleeping bags have less insulation on the bottom than on the top which could have kept this technique from working but I didn't notice that it's this bag.

Great Bag
I love this bag, its warm, sheds the moisture/dew in the morning, has holes to have your arms outside the bag but keep your core temp warm, packs up in a small bag and is all around a quality product!
