2nd Pair - just as good as the first!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
11.5 wide
Height:
5' 10"
Weight:
220

My first pair of these boots kept me comfortable over 4 summers of hiking a couple dozen of Colorado 14ers. Just did my first 15 mile hike in my new pair and they were fantastic. I have very wide feet and a neuroma in one. Lowa are one of the only manufacturers of a high-quality boot in a wide model. Only boots I have found that don't make my neuroma scream. I'll beat this second pair into the ground and then get a third pair. Highly recommend.

Not Good!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought these boots for a up incoming climb. I will not be wearing these. Just walking around town my toes hurt bad. The soles push your feet forward. I tried everything from new insoles to lacing tricks no joy. My toes hurt now just sitting here typing this. Waste of money. Now I have to buy another set of boots. Geez! Do better Lowa!

Rugged, but hard

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

The cushion on the insole is very thin, and results in a hard feeling when hiking. Standing in like (Zion) sucked in these. But they are rugged and grippy. I have wide feet and I get blisters on the pinky toes as well, but I attribute that to my feet. Wide feet beware though

These boots have good padding and very good protection around my ankle's. The size was right on. I like the look of the boot also. The only thing I don't like are the thin insoles.

Very Comfortable But...

The most comfortable boots I've ever owned. Right out of the box and onto the track; no breaking in required. I told my mate that if these boots lasted two years, I'd never look at anything else. Now the "but": they lasted only a year. Both boots have split where the upper meets the rubber right at little toe area - so, of course, they are no longer waterproof. The stitching is also coming out of the leather band that wraps around the toes. Both laces have also popped (of course laces pop but I would expect them to last a bit longer than that). I still give four stars - and I'll still think about buying another pair - because I have absolutely hammered these boots over the course of the past year. Many trips - often over rough terrain - and they have been constantly wet (the nature of tramping in NZ) and often haven't been given the chance to dry properly. I'd really like these boots in a more indestructible version.

Lowa Quality - Tremendous Products

Familiarity:

A caveat that I encountered is: I am a size 11 across the board and with every manufacturer. In hindsight, I should have ordered the 11.5. I am not knocking the brand, I just should have tried them on at a store before ordering. I purchased these last fall and have just started wearing them. There is a short break in so hold fast and you will be pleased. Quality and functionality are the biggest features of this brand. They have been manufacturing all level of foot wear for some of the greatest alpinists to the weekend hiker. Enjoy.

Best boots ive ever owned in my life!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

If you see any, get them! They are a bit pricy but they are amazing. Someone gave a pair of these to me as a gift and they?re so comfortable and warm I forget to take them off sometimes even with thin nylon socks on outside. They keep your feet nice and warm but not too hot. Even in cold weather. My toes don?t freeze and hurt when I?m deer hunting anymore. Perfect arch support and you cant feel big jagged rocks under the hard soles at all so no more pressure points. Every step is like walking on a flat cushioned surface. 10/10. Worth every cent.

Slippery on snow

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I bought these at a local shoe shop intending to use them for winter hikes. That doesn?t seem to be the proper use for these shoes. They?re very slippery in snow, far more so than my everyday shoes.

Short and sweet - these are made of very high quality material, they fit great, and they do an excellent job of taking care of your ankles. You couldn?t roll your ankles in this even if you tried! I normally wear size 12.5 and I got the 13s and they fit great. Plenty of wiggle room for your toes. I also thought I needed the extra wide size, but it turns out just the normal ones are plenty wide. Great boot!!

The Renegade GTX fits great right out of the box and waterproofing keeps the feet dry on those early wet mornings.
