A (well-illuminated) Step Above-
I have had two headlamps become non-functional because the switch on the LED broke after multiple uses, even though the rest of the device still worked. So when I was searching for a replacement, I wanted a headlamp that was a step up in quality. The LedLenser reviews indicated that the quality of the build was excellent and that they were designed to last longer in an industrial environment. They are more expensive than the headlamps one finds in outdoor recreation stores, but I decided to purchase one to see if the headlamp's highly rated reviews were justified. While I haven't used it enough to test the reliability of the on/off switch, I am impressed with the excellent overall build quality, and I am optimistic that it should survive years of hard use.

I run on ice and snow at 4:30 AM on a poorly maintained path and no lights. This is a game changer! It is absolutely perfect!

Lovely For Night Running and Dog Walking
I purchased this as a multipurpose headlamp for trail running as well as walking my dogs around the neighborhood. We get a fair amount of traffic and I'm always nervous that our high-vis gear won't be enough. This Headlamp has plenty of power so that cars know you're coming, but the key feature is that it includes a blinking red LED on the battery pack in the back so that I feel safe about approaching cars as well. This Headlamp has plenty of power and 1200 lumens is enough to essentially light the whole neighborhood! As a trail running light the combination of flood and spot beams gives a ton of confidence in my step. The beam is essentially shadowless so there is no mistaking what's in front of me. The Neo9R is heavier than I think most long distance / ultra runners would want at 7oz, and if weight is paramount I would recommend the Neo5R as you cut to 3.7oz and still have 600 lumens of power.
