Why We Like The La Sportiva Bushido II Trail Running Shoe
Designed for serious runners taking on technical terrain, the La Sportiva Bushido II Trail Running shoe has a well-regarded reputation in our office for a reason. This newest iteration aligns with the mentality of "improve it, but don't mess with what makes it loved." You can expect the same low-volume performance fit, same drop, same low weight, same snug fit, and same outsole rubber and lug pattern.
The most noticeable update to the Bushido is the midsole construction. La Sportiva added their proprietary LaSpEVA in an effort to create a more responsive and springier ride to keep you comfortable through longer distances. Additionally, the upper has been updated with a more breathable mesh fabric that still retains the same durability of its predecessor so you can confidently tackle rugged terrain through the mountains.

Runs 1 1/2 US sizes small!
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it

Great grippy shoe but runs WAY too small. I wear an 11 1/2 mens US size. On the flawed size chart it says this corresponds to 45 EU size so that’s what I ordered. Way too small so I exchanged it for a 46. Still too small so exchanged for a 47 which fits well. The chart says this is a size 13 US. Nonsense. After all of the sizing complaints in these reviews, why don’t you correct your sizing chart?!

So great if they fit your foot
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer

I've owned several pairs of Busido II's and love them. They are the perfect combination of lightweight and breathable while offering good support and underfoot rock protection. Soles are grippy on rock as well as loose stuff. BUT I have a low-volume, long foot and doubt a more full-footed person will be as pleased. My foot measures a 11.75-12 B.

Great shoe for trail running
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 8.5

- Weight:

Ordered these in 8.5 as that’s my typical size. 8.5 was very small, 9’s are still small but after a few weeks of running in them they have stretched nicely. I have to say the back country returns were great and I couldn’t be happier with my customer service experience.

Great Shoes

My husband is a ultra trail runner and these are the only shoes he wears. We were delighted to find them at such a good price on this site.

Shoe is long enough but very narrow and also tight fitting in the toe box. I sent them back.

Great trail running shoe. Runs small
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

These are a solid pair of shoes. I like the level of support and traction they give. The only downside is the foot volume is pretty low causing my American foot to fit a little snug despite ordering a half size bigger. Overall a great shoe.

So far so good
- Familiarity:

I’ve used these on handful of trail runs so far but nothing over several miles. I also have Altra Lone Peak 6s and Solomon Speedcross. These are my favorite. They are a good blend of support and weight. The couple of concerns I have are the width (not sure if there is a wide version) because I do have a little pressure in my midfoot and also the toe box, which seems relatively narrow. Only time will tell but so far so good.

Love the Bushido II
The perfect balance of light / nimble and ruggedness. Truely the best shoe I've ever owned

The Cinderella's slipper of trail runners
Used this shoe exclusively on my AT thru hike and shakedown hikes, going through 3 pairs. I regretfully replaced my first pair after only 600 miles, and my subsequent two each lasted over 1000 miles without ever failing catastrophically. My feet are exceptionally narrow, making these a perfect fit, plus I loved the traction and of course the durability. The mesh part of the shoe and panel seams near the front were the weak points. I would sew these up with dental floss and glue over the top to create a permanent fix. This is the last hiking oriented trail runner I will ever buy, and I'm tempted to buy a dozen pairs to hoard in case they're discontinued or changed.

The best hiking/trail running/approach shoe!
I’ve worn so many trail running/approach shoes over the last decade(+) and I can, without doubt, say these are my favourites! I typically run anywhere from 9-20 miles a week and hike a similar amount going to climbing locations. They’re strong and flexible, have worn well. The tread is starting to fade after a brutal year of running, hiking, talus hopping/climbing so I’ve just ordered 2 more. I’ve found my shoe!
