Something must have changed...
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
We live at the beach and needed something for low wind high heat days for shade. We have a sail that we use for wind over 5knts. Cursory reviews indicated that this shade rocked and giveb the sale on it since Kelty is discontinuing it made it a great deal. We are experienced outdoors people spending, on average, 30 to 40 nights a year in a tent or other outdoor shelter. So, background aside...the canopy itself is well constructed. Fabric and seams in solid condition. Setup is straightforward. Hub system of the poles seems like an unnecessary complication that makes a second person to support setup almost mandatory. Even with the two of us the last pole insert bent them on the very first trial run in our driveway. For the diameter of the pole they are unusually weak and flimsy. As you know, you can't really bend an aluminum pole back without weakening it. Return process was fast and easy. Would not recommend the product even at the lower cost. For $50-100 more which is not inconsequential there are sturdier products that will last for years of hard use.
