Labor Day SaleLabor Day Sale

Your best friend on a powder day - in anything from four inches to four feet.

The Jones Hovercraft Snowboard was designed to do one thing: float on top of the good stuff. With tons of surface area and a set-back, directional hybrid-rocker shape, the Hovercraft glides through low-angle tree runs with plenty of speed and will open your eyes to new stashes all over your local resort. Just don't be surprised to hear your friends grumbling and cursing behind you as they get stuck trying to follow your line.

  • Directional hybrid shape uses camber underfoot for stability and hardpack edge grip, with rocker in the nose for awesome floatation
  • Film topsheet reduces weight and environmental impact without compromising durability
  • Blunt nose for reduced swing weight and easier planing in powder, crud, or corn
  • FSC-certified full wood core is light, strong, and sustainably farmed
  • Mellow Magne-Traction edge design adds contact points for improved grip, while still letting you finesse your turns
  • Beefed-up edges are 250% stronger than traditional edge layups to withstand serious impacts without blowing out
  • Sintered base for durability and speed, with alternating color patterns to reduce wasted materials

Awesome board

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased the 156cm split about 6 months ago and used it for a season in New Zealand mostly in the backcountry but also on hard packed at times. Found this board to be exceptionally stable and incredibly swift and easy to manoeuvre. The float in the deeper stuff is exceptional and makes for a very controlled ride as you are well up on the snow rather than ploughing. Had no problem with landing drop offs either. I am about 195 pounds and 180cm but have found the 156cm plenty big enough although it is shorter in length than what i would normally ride at a resort.

I am very interested in the Hovercraft, but not sure what size board to get. I am a male, 5.11 (178cm) tall and weigh 84kg. 152cm or the 156cm?

Considering your height, weight, and this will be probably be your ALL Mountain Pow Board. You will want all the stability you can get from the bigger board. You should get the 156cm.

156cm would be perfect for you Andrew. I'm about 88kg and 180cm and find the 156 great.

tail design flaws, no warranty

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Right out of the packaging I found the tail aluminum insert already disbonded. Issue very similar to one experienced by Daniel Ochoa in other review. Seems to be a design flaw!

The Jones snowboard does not provide you with anything that could be actually called a "Manufacturer Warranty". If you give/sell your two days (month, whatever) old board to a friend of yours he will have neither BC "guaranteed return", nor the Jones' warranty. Absolutely outrageous!!!

The board rides interesting, but I have no wish to give any detailed review provided such a "very nice" customer service of the Jones.

Not just a Pow Board

I've ridden this all season in every type of condition. Deep pow in the trees, corduroy steeps, and powder filled chutes, and I haven't found a real weakness for this shape. I love how short it is, I can whip this into a turn like no other. I love how surfy it is too. Holds an edge on ice. If you're riding switch a lot this board won't be great but that's not why you pick this up. You pick it up to ride POW and it kills the fluff but don't feel like you have to put it away when the snow firms, I haven't.

I'm giving this only 3 stars though for it's durability. No, I'm not the gentlest on boards but I'm on my second hovercraft this season. The first had an issue with the tail aluminum insert dis bonding and now my latest has the base dis bonding. These both happened after impacts with rocks but not overly damaging impacts or at least ones that haven't done the same to previous boards. The base Ptex mostly held up after each impact.

Brings a smile

Love it, but needs to be used for what it is intended for. Doesn't handle great on icy stuff, but groomed and powder seems to be great. Not the fastest board, but easy on the legs to ride soft.

Only regret is not buying the splitboard version!

This board absolutely destroys the powder! I have been riding for 20+ year and I have yet to ride a board that compares to this. I have taken this out on the deepest days at Mt. Baker where it had snowed 6 feet in 3 days and this thing just hovered me right on top of the snow. It has such a fun surfy feel to it that all I can do is smile big and hoot and holler when I ride this thing. This board is the best board to ride on a powder day at a resort. It not only kills it in the powder, but it does amazingly well on the groomers back to the chair. It holds an edge really well on hardpack and ice. This thing stomp big clif drops and handles high speed really well. If you want a board that will take you to the next level in powder riding. This board is it!
