Icebreaker BodyFit 200 Oasis Crew - Men's

Love Icebreaker Merino - I have 3 other shirts that I wear to the point my wife refers to them as "my uniform". This one I had to send back though, as the Medium (same size as my other 3) was simply WAY too tight to be considered the appropriate size. Other than this, you simply can't go wrong with Icebreaker Merino - if you're contemplating it, do it....you won't be sorry.

This shirt is smooth like butter. It just feels so good. The fit is nice and a bit slim, like most Icebreaker pieces. It's okay that I can't take this piece off because merino does such a good job of keeping the funk away. I definitely recommend this piece.

Having always been one of the stinky guys after a day of activity, discovering the joys of merino wool has been great for me. The icebreaker oasis does its job well - I've worn it for a five day trip without ever taking it off, and the stink factor was minimal. Washing is easy - just put it in the washing machine and then air dry. Comparing merino wool baselayers to synthetics, there are a couple pros and cons.

Pros: relatively stink-free; more comfortable (obviously a personal opinion)

Cons: takes longer to dry than synthetic materials, feels a little more fragile than synthetic shirts

This is my go-to base layer, so for me the pros outweigh the cons. I did check out several other merino wool shirts (Arcteryx and Patagonia Wool 2) - I was most impressed by the feel and fit of the Icebreaker. I'd strongly recommend giving one of the icebreaker shirts a try.

I really can't say enough about how much I like this top. It fits great, looks great, and performs great whether I'm running, cycling, skiing, hiking, or just hanging out at the local pub. For a little more clarity - yes it breathes well, no it doesn't itch, yes it allows for maximum mobility in all directions even though it's an athletic (body hugging) fit, yes it does keep you relatively warm even when wet and finally yes, you really do need to follow the care instructions for the Icebreaker wool items.

My husband loved it. It has all the quality that a merino wool should have: regulates temperatures, odor free etc.

This crew rocks. Comfy and warm. Icebreaker is the real deal. I love the fit and feel. I live in Aspen and wear my body fit 200 under my clothes all winter.

I thought for sure, with all the 5 star reviews, that this was gonna be an awesome baselayer. Maybe the merino does a great job of wicking sweat, but I'll never find out because the "body fit" does not fit my body. Compared to my poly pro base layers, it felt like I was being squeezed. When I bent my arms, the shirt pinched at the elbows. It's also not the softest material. I'm 5'8" 145lb and the length of the medium shirt is fine, but the arms are too long. This one's going back.

Perfect for a tight fitting base layer. I really dig Icebreaker's merino.

They weren't kidding about bodyfit. I read the reviews and sized up to an XL and I'm glad I did. It's a really nice shirt and very comfortable. Avoids the stink of similar synthetics.

I just received these in the mail, top and bottom, and wanted to try them on and give a review.

I am about 6' or 182cm and 170lbs or 77kgs. I have a 33 inch waist, 41 inch chest, athletic build.

The fabric and seam quality look and feel great. It looks like it should hold up for a while and not break down so easily.

The fit is "FITTED" This thing is snug! I ordered LARGE and wear a medium in every other base layer. It would be wise to order one size up than what you usually wear or I imagine it would be very tight and probably unwearable.

The top fits comfortably. It is snug all around and I can tuck it into the bottoms if wanted. So length is sufficient too. The cuffs reach just past my wrist and rest there no matter what movement. Two down points are the seams in the arm pits which I can notice right now. They wrap down from the shoulder and arm and meet in the middle of the armpit then continue down the side. I don't know how to describe it. Maybe a small bunching or tightness in my armpit just off the side of my pec. The other issue is that my forearms feel pretty tight up my elbow. Other than that these garments seem like they would work fine for any activity. Maybe just some slight discomfort that you could probably ignore when you're moving and having fun.

So in conclusion:
ORDER ONE SIZE UP
and don't forget your insulation layer!

I love icebreaker and for a botom layer his one can't be beat! I wear this shirt day and night and everything in between! ( dont worry I have another one to rotate in).
Sizing does seem to run small on this particular item as I ordered an xl to make sure -as they can shrink a tad over the years -and it fits me pretty snugly -more like what I feel a large would do. I'm 5'8" 175 and pretty sturdy /in shape but wouldnt usually buy xl for a base layer.

Have been wearing Icebreaker for more than three years and find the 200 weight to be the most versatile piece. Never had a problem with smell other than while the shirt dries after washing. Good shirt, especially if you can get it on sale.

love this shirt, fits me like a glove and keeps me warm in below 40 degree days. I use it as my base layer when Im outdoors and usually a vest over it will keep me warm enough. Also makes my guns look real nice;)

This may be the perfect shirt, period. I wear this as a base layer for cycling, snowboarding, hiking, even as a long sleeve undershirt under a tee. It's warm, yet cool, wears and fits perfectly, and can be worn for DAYS on end without washing (seriously). I wear this under a simple cycling jacket in temps from the high 20's all the way to around 60. It keeps you perfectly warm, but also allows you to stay cool when the temps come up a bit. I just recently snowboarded in near zero degree temps with this as a base layer, a bodyfit260 on top of that, and just my snowboard shell - perfectly comfortable all day. Merino wool is where it's at, and Icebreaker is the best you can buy. Do not hesitate based on price, or if you're unsure about merino wool. It really IS that good. I'm 5'8 and 160 (41" chest) with an athletic build, and the medium is perfect (a tighter, base layer fit). If you like a bit looser, size up one.

A very comfortable and stylish T. Love it. Took a couple of tries though to finally get the size right. Sizes seem to be very under measured.

I love icebreaker short- and long-sleeve running shirts and this is my first casual shirt from them. I am very happy with the form and the fit - Large is perfect for my 6'2 frame. The weight is nice, a little thinner than similar Ibex shirts, but figure it is still a three season shirt.

I'm happy with this product. I wore it as my baselayer on a 3 day trip to the summit of Mt Rainier, and it performed great. To me that means that it was warm, regulated my temperature well, and didn't smell. I like that it seems versatile since I can bunch up the sleeves to regulate temperature. I've been slowly switching over to wool in general over the capilene that I used to rely on. I feel that its better over a wider range of temperatures, and doesn't smell. I've got the size medium, and am 175lb, and 6'2". The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is for appearance.

The Bodyfit 200 is definitely a dedicated baselayer. Personally, I wish it had been designed a little more like the 260 crew in terms of fit, because the 260 looks great as outerwear and is far more versatile (which I think is important given the cost).

I will mention here that I'm not quite sure how Icebreaker sizes their stuff. I wear an XL in almost everything - Arc'teryx, Smartwool, Mountain Hardwear, Under Armour, Patagonia - it all seems pretty standard. Putting on the XL Bodyfit 200 made me look like Ralphie's little brother in A Christmas Story when his arms stick straight out to the sides and he flops around like a trout on an ice sheet. The XXL fits snug, like a compression layer.

I do like the 200 as a baselayer though. The feel is excellent, it's comfortable, and has all the properties that make merino great.

Overall, I think I prefer the Smartwool NTS crew to this particular product - based entirely on my personal preference for fit and cut.

My personal favorite as a base layer so far.
One of the sturdier ones I have had and also the warmest in league with the weight.
Sizing is just a bit small.

This shirt is great/awesome/amazing/bomber/etc. Usually a M-L and got a large--it fits great. It's snug, but not a all constrictive. The sleeves are nice a long, and there's nothing bad to say.

I have 2 of these shirts and absolutely love them! They are very thin and soft, yet regulate temperature and moisture very well. They have a slim fit, yet run a bit long (which is perfect for me). Depending on how you want them to fit, consider sizing up. At 6'2, 190 lbs, I usually wear size large, but the large tops fit like spandex. I ended buying XL's which are still form fit and tight, but at least have a little breathing room (good if you are intending to wear the shirt on its own).

I've been using polypropylene base layers for years. They have worked well, but they are smelly. From all the reviews Icebreaker is not supposed to smell. So, far it doesn't. It isn't itchy, but I definitely can tell that it is wool and not a poly product. Fits tight, so if you want it to be loose, size up a size. Sleeves are long. I have only worn this product twice on hikes, but from first impressions, this will be my new base layer. I'm thinking about getting the short sleeve version, but want it looser and so will size up one size.

I like my Oasis shirts. To me they are like a secound skin. They come in many different colors, so it is easy to find the right one to wear with different shirts.

Excellent lightweight wool shirt. my bf takes this backcountry skiing all the time and it dries extremely fast even when soaking wet. buy a size up, though

I love this shirt as a layer for all outdoor hiking and camping activities--whether it is a spring day or an cool summer night or the base layer in a stoic but slim system fighting the cold of MN winter. The stretch of the material keeps the shirt against your skin for good wicking and the material is very soft, but I have two caveats. One is that the neck is somewhat large. I do have a bit of a slimmer neck, but it feels like the larger neck defeats the effective heat regulating nature of the merino wool. The second warning is that although soft, be CAREFUL when using this as a base layer for cool/cold running. I thought it wouldn't be a problem, and certainly better than cotton, but my nips took an absolute beating on an 8 mile run with this shirt as a base layer. So while awesome for most things, merino does have some limitations.

Thins is my new favorite baselayer. It feels fantastic and manages odor very well. It is very slim fitting, so if you plan on wearing as an outerlayer or around town, consider sizing up a bit. I would give 5 stars but it seems fragile, as it has a few small holes from getting in contact with velcro in the washer!

sized up to xl. you should too if you have any doubts. i'm a snowboard guide and i wear this thing for 4 days in a row @ a time. only the pits stink with close inspection! i want more icebreaker...

Bought this last Christmas for my finance and he got into a little accident and had to have it cut off. Since that time he has really missed this shirt and once again this Christmas I bought one for him. He is a skydiver and we live in Idaho where winter temps are in the 20s-30s most of the time. Depending on the season he layers this shirt with either a long sleeve T or a long sleeve T and a sweatshirt. When asked if he has anything to say about this shirt his response was, "I love it"! Hopefully he will never have another accident-but if he does I would buy another.

Awesome baselayer I basically haven't taken it off since I got it.

Odor-resistance is real, it is wearable for about 4 days without it smelling at all (but you will).

In terms of warmth, for me this and a t-shirt will be fine for just standing around down to about 60 F, with a light windproof shell around the mid 40s.

Initially, the itchyness of wool is tangible, but after 3 days of wear and a good washing, you will not remember it is made of wool, EXCEPT when you sweat A LOT (bad layering) it will become noticeably itchy, if you can adjust layers its not a problem at all.

Well worth the price. Get one you won't be disappointed.

Start wearing these and you'll want to get rid of all your poly. I did.

Sweet base layer.

fits snug and comfortable. Decent comfort range. Wore it commuting for most of a week, and it still didn't stink - although I wonder if the sweat will degrade the stitching. I'm getting a heavier weight one for when things get really chilly.

This is my favorite base layer for cold weather activities. I wear it for several days straight on hunting trips and still can't believe that it doesn't stink when I get home. Just picked up a second one on SAC. I've been waiting for them to come back up since I bought the last one! A little expensive at first glance, but when you take into account that you can wear one of these for 4 or 5 days, it's a steal.

This is the bomb-diggity. I love love love it. I wear it anytime I'm doing something outside and it's between 20 and 60 degrees, which is most of the time (above 60, I'm in short sleeves; below 20 and I'm in Cap 3). I also just wear it around cause it looks good. The best part about it is that it doesn't smell. Well, it smells like wet wool if it's wet, but at least it's not my wonderful BO.

this shirt feels great as a base layer, fits snug and is really warm. I have a heavier icebreaker sweater and between the two I can't be cold! also works great with my backcountry t-shirt

Good as an everyday shirt, great as a base layer. I'm a little cold natured so this shirt really fits the bill for me. This is my first purchase of merino wool. A little pricey, but I like it. Soft, warm, odor free, snug fitting. I'm a lean 6' 3" and 175 with a 34.5" dress shirt sleeve length and the large fits me perfectly. If the fabric continues to hold up, this will definitely become my favorite shirt.

Very soft,high quality merino wool .I cannot imagine a better base layer than this.My only gripe would be that I wish the length of the shirt were longer and for my height 6' 1" it seems a little short.Is there room in the market for a big and tall icebreaker line? Overall this is a excellent merino wool shirt.For me,all the icebreaker baselayers make the best pajamas to sleep in,no more night sweats.

Tight, shirt performs well. Great baselayer for the cold times. Icebreaker is becoming one of my favorite brands. I recommend it...

This shirt is great, it is tighter than I expected (I ordered a large, and I always wear larges) but the tightness seems apporpriate for a baselayer, anyway, buy it.

I'm 6'1 180 lbs and L fits great. Wicks sweat, stays warm, is way comfortable, and is a fantastic under layer even in cold (10-20 F) and windy conditions. I recommend it - I'm going to buy multiple.

Love It!

This shirt is snug and comfortable breaths like no other performance shirt I own. Other shirts claim to 'wick' the sweat away from your body but the Icebreaker shirts do. The sweat will hold on the shirt but it wont feel soaked, just slightly damp.

I have used this thing for 5 trail runs and still haven't washed it, it smells the same as if I just got done putting it through the wash and it dries pretty fast.

Its all been said already. Great Base layer as you would except from icebreaker

I own several different wool and synthetic base layer shirts and this one is hands down the best. It never smells and doesn't itch. Something I haven't been able to figure out is some of my other base layers have problems if you wear antiperspirant with them and it never comes out of the shirt - not so with this one. Not sure if it's the material or the fit not riding into your pits. If I ever see this shirt go on sale again I will buy a ton of them for all my friends and family (and to have a backup or two in case I damage mine or it's dirty).

I love this top. I used it mainly for multiday hiking trips for use at night but it also came in handy for those colder days of hiking. It retained its tight fitting shape and refused to stink even after being thoroughly soaked in sweat. The best thing was though that it felt so nice and and the long sleeves were actually long and didnt leave my wrists exposed. The only minor drawback with it is that it has started to pill on the back where a backpack rubs but this only affects appearance and not the ability to keep me warm. I am never going back to poly thermals.

This piece is a total base layer. It's thin, form fitting, and will wick sweat off your skin quickly. It is not a thick thermal piece, it's the first layer and perfect for it. I've worn this on multi-day climbing trips where packing light is necessity and the doesn't-smell thing is true, it was still fine after day three on. Not perfect, but better than comparable synthetics I've used. The fit, durability, comfort, and all round awesomeness of this and other Icebreaker pieces I've picked up have turned me into a serious brand fan.

Icebreaker has converted me to merino baselayers forever! This is actually the 3rd icebreaker layering piece that I've been using and I love it. I'm 5' 8"/165lbs and the medium is a bit snug on the skin, but allows for complete movement and flexibility. The arms are slightly long and provide excellent range of motion when I'm reaching above my head. So far, I've worn the 200 as a baselayer for several layering configurations, and haven't been cold yet.

Another icebreaker purchase for my dad after getting him one shirt he had to have another for the holidays. It's meant to be a layering piece so if you want a casual look size it up. He has gone hunting for some good 3 and 4 day trips and not had to wash it and it he stays warm. If you haven't bought icebreaker yet, do it and try this shirt, I have the women's one and it's amazing!
