I love the Down Shift Pack
I bought this pack for mountain biking. I am very happy with how comfortable it is to wear on rides. It does keep my water cool. I appreciate the quality of the closure on the bladder.

Small main compartment, upgrades needed
No one seems to have noted so far on reviews how small the main compartment is on this backpack. The water bladder and insulation system sits at the bottom of the bag, taking up all the space. The insulation pouch reminds me of those insulated lunch bags with the reflective material. If you are going to pack anything else in the backpack, you'll have about 1/2 to 1/3 of the length of the backpack left if you completely fill up the water bladder. If you get hot on your ride and layered up, your jacket will pretty much take up the remaining space along with any other snacks you may have packed. Otherwise, there are two small compartments on the inside main compartment. Enough to put your keys/wallet/phone/energy bar. The external zipper is also small enough to store these items. But again the more you pack into these compartments, the less space there will be overall as it bulges into the main compartment. Pros: comfy when it's on my back for bike rides (the chest and waist strap keep it pretty secure),the water does stay cold (with ice!). Added upgrades that would be nice: Side cargo nets for tossing your keys or an apple or extra water bottles. Placement of the water bladder in a more traditional manner (going along the back and length of the backpack) I'll also be using this backpack for hikes and for the military on range days too.

Awesome Backpack!
I just bought this and used it for the first time last weekend for a ski trip. This pack is sleek, the straps adjust easily, and it holds an ample amount of water for a day trip. Perfect for holding extra layers, snacks or whatever you may need. Great fit on my back and shoulders, I almost forgot I was wearing it.

Lives up to the hype!
I don’t typically review anything but this hydration pack is AMAZING! Was able to have enough COLD water to hike 8+ miles at Zion National. The curved design helped to keep my back cool and the size was big enough to even keep my other camera lense.

Comfortable fit and keeps water ice cold!
After thinking about it for a long time I purchased this about one month ago and am so happy I decided to finally do it! I live in AZ where late summer is still very hot when hiking. I leave work and fill it up with ice water, hike 2-3 miles and still have ice in my pack when I'm done. Love, love, love this backpack! It has a comfortable fit and does not weigh me down. Great purchase!

Game Changer!
Honestly this pack has been a total game changer! Though most seem to use it for biking, I've been using it for EVERYTHING this summer - biking, canoeing, hiking, etc. It's been a great hands-free way to stay hydrated and it's so comfy you almost forget that you're wearing it. I also get complements all the time. The pockets are also great for your phone, keys, ID, SNACKS - it's all you need!

Best MTB backpack I've ever used
I typically hate wearing backpacks while biking. They are uncomfortable, sweating, and lack the proper storage for bike knick knacks. At least until now. The Hydro Flask backpack is one of the best. The water loads in the bottom, so the weight comfortably sits lower than your typically hydration pack, with better than average lumbar comfortability. I've recommended this to a few folks, and they also agree it's better than any other bike backpack. It's great for long rides, when you need a lot of water, snacks, and gear to get you through the ride. If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would.

Wow I'm disappointed
This is a super expensive pack, but I love the Hydro Flask water bottles so I trusted the brand enough to pull the trigger on this despite the cost. But holy mackerel is it not worth what I paid for it. Quality-wise it should have cost less than half what I paid. When I pulled it out of the packaging I literally cringed. I expected it to be an obviously durable, thick, substantive material. I expected the Hydro Flask level of quality. The cooling system is kind of a joke at this point and the water pack is small and the tube tastes bad. I'm just so disappointed. I wish I had never made this purchase.

Everything you want in a bike backpack.
Before I wasn't the biggest fan of biking with a backpack but Hydroflask really outdid themselves with this pack. The fit is nice and snug, the straps are a bit too long, but that can be fixed. Once tightened down the pack sits nicely on the back and hardly moves even when ripping through nasty rock gardens are hitting the jump line on tiddlywinks. Also, there's not a whole lot of non sense and flare to the pack. everything has a purpose and I love how big the front pocket is! I love being able to keep my water ice cold especially on those hot summer days. the whole hydration system is perfect too! Really top notch!

I understand the concept of this, but how do you clean the 2L container inside the backpack, is it removable? Seems to me that like all water bottles I’ve had, they get that black funk on the lids/rims, that make it hard to clean, end up in the garbage.
