    Hoka power

I've been wanting a pair of hoka's for a while. My wife has a few pair and swears by them. I finally picked up a pair and, consequently, picked up my running. I've never been much of a runner but these shoes have put me back on the road. I now run faster than I ever have before and I feel great! I'm loving them!

      Great support and feel

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Have been running with these for all kinds of different runs (tempo/long/easy) and am impressed by the cushioning which was not overly soft. Provides a good ground feel despite the thickness.

Could do better if the toe box was wider!

Surprisingly fast; good shoe for mileage

~50mi on the shoes so far, all paved. Much like others that have tried these, I bought a pair after having some patellar tendinitis-type pain. I blame it on my previous ACL repairs a decade ago, but now I'm old and that excuse is questionable. Regardless...the shoes "feel" slow but are surprisingly fast - I kept thinking my pace was much slower until I checked my watch and found myself a little faster than usual on slow-paced runs (9:00-10:00min/mile for me). The height is awkward at first, but I acclimated easily. That said, I haven't (and wouldn't) use them for interval or tempo runs, but they are very good recovery or long run shoes.

      Helps with sore soles

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Bought these based on wife's experience with Hoka Ones. I run once a week or so, and ended up with sore right sole. Figured these would decrease the pain. Have run once and walked often with these. Although the tenderness isn't gone completely, these definitely have decreased it. They are comfortable and fit well.

      Cloud 9

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 12

Just put my Hoka Bondi 4's through a short week of three runs and am impressed. I just made the switch from flat to fat and I love it. I switched to see if a nagging dull pain in my heel would feel better with the huge cushion soles and so far so good. I tried on a pair of Altras but the wide toe box was just to open for my tastes. These Hokas are roomier than my usual Asics but still supportive. I hit 6 miles on gravel/dirt and the extra height seemed stable but I don't see myself taking them out on a trail run. The don't feel real fast but if the pain stays away it will be worth it.

Great shoe, if you have high ankles..

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Three runs in this pair so far. 10 mile, 26.2 mile, and another 10 mile. The shoes would be perfection, IF it were not for the outside edge of the right shoe digging into my ankle! At first it was a mild annoyance, but now, and especially after 3+hrs, it hurts! I'm thinking of trimming down that section a 1/4 inch so that it won't hit my ankle... The left side doesn't bother me with this at all, so I'm not sure if its a manufacture defect or not. Regardless, there are still plenty of miles left in these shoes, and they are super comfortable for the long runs!

I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for this one issue..
