ExOfficio designed its Men's Bugsaway Sandfly Pants for humid, buggy, and hot conditions. The Insect Shield treatment repels bugs (mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers, and midges) and lasts through 70 washings. The abrasion-resistant, yet lightweight nylon shell stands up to wear and tear for years of exploration. The Sandfly pants also wick moisture, dry quickly, and provide airflow thanks to mesh panels at the backs of the knees. The gusset promotes a full range of motion, and snap-up cuffs help during low-running river crossings.

Go-To Fishing Pants!
Excellent pants for fishing in the tropics. They are super-lightweight and cool in hot climates. They also provide adequate sun protection.

Too delicate for hiking
After *one* hike the mesh tore when it caught on a some brush and then later I got another tear on the inseam. These are marketed as hiking pants, but they are clearly way too delicate for hiking. I have never worn something with durability this bad. Worse yet, when I tried to file a warranty claim they want me to ship it back at my expense and wait up to 9 weeks to maybe get a replacement? Ridiculous.

Versitile Hot Weather Mainstay
The Sandfly pants are very lightweight while providing a balanced mix of well thought out pockets and of course, an insect repellent treatment. There are a handful of quirks compared to heavier duty outdoor pants but for me these are a dependable choice I use very frequently and I would absolutely buy this same version of the Sandfly again.

Airy light
Light, airy and comfortable. Never had lighter pants. For backpacking I want pants to keep bugs, sun and brush off of me. How will they hold up to brush? I use a foam sit pad so my pants don’t get dirty and torn. When it’s colder I pull a pair of merino wool underpants out and good to go.

Survive Vampire Bugs
Very lightweight, very cool in hot weather. The bug repellent works, roomy pockets, not as much give in the waist as Exoffcio's shorts. I buy a new pair every summer. Mesh on inside of thighs.

So Soft and Comfortable
I’m female, and 5’10”. The ladies sizes are just too short for my 34-35” inseam. These pants are just long enough for wearing with my hiking boots. These are so lightweight and the venting in the legs is an added benefit for desert hiking & biking. The large pockets are accommodating for snacks, cell phone, and chapstick. I’m not sure wether the bug deterrent is effective yet, as the winter has essentially taken care of that issue- but am hopeful that it works- as I am a mosquito magnet and I detest wearing bug spray on my skin. Fingers crossed! I bought Men’s size 34W-34L.
