Why We Like The El Capitan 3+ Outfitter Tent

The El Capitan 3+ Outfitter is a portable fortress. The burly build doesn't flinch at rough sites and has plenty of space for our belay partners and all our gear, while the high/low venting system helps waft out our stench. When the sky rains down, we zip the fly closed and hunker down, lazing comfortably in the roomy interior that boasts 15% more room than traditional designs.

Thick material, well made, adaptable.

I bought this tent so I could camp in the Texas summer and Colorado winter. So far it's worked perfectly. I've slept with the rain fly off, stayed cool and still had privacy and used it in rain and freezing weather with the rain fly. The material is thick and durable, I'm not concerned about kids or dogs ripping anything which is a blessing. The bonus is the vent works as a dog door! My only two notes, 1) the tent is prone to condensation on the inside if you don't vent it properly, so make sure it's set up for the weather your camping in. 2) Make sure you roll the tent up properly (the outer and inner folded to exactly the length of the poles) otherwise you will struggle to get it back in the bag.

Great update to the previous generation

I had the previous model El Cap 3 and upgraded to this new model El Capitan Outffiter 3+. Eureka has made some really good updates to this tent. 1. The footprint now extends into the vestibules, so your gear will stay clean if it's stored in there, and your knees will stay clean as you enter/exit the tent. This is especially useful if you camp in the winter on snow. 2. The doors are larger than on the previous version, making it easier to enter/exit. 3. The vents on the fly have been moved to the top rather than in the vestibules. 4. Where the centre top of the tent connects to the frame is now a clip rather than the peg and loop, which was hard to use with cold hands or while wearing gloves. 5. The ridge pole and the roof redesign (the roof attaches to the ends of the ridge pole) creates more head and shoulder room over the door vs the old model where the roof did not attach to the fly pole. 6. Oxford weave in the tent floor should be more durable than the non Oxford (I'm assuming) weave in the old tent. 7. 5000mm hydrostatic head (waterproofness) floor, and 2000mm HH fly are more than I see in some 4 season expedition tents.

Super durable and spacious

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family and I love hiking. Before the pandemic, we did hiking very often so we have some tents. When we got this one, it absolutely blows my mind away. It's very durable and high quality product. It's also very spacious. It says for 3+ people but it actually fits our family of 5 and everyone still fell comfortable. It has 2 doors for easy entry. It weighs approximately 11 lbs with waterproof and heavy duty materials. I absolutely love it. It's worth every penny.

Stay warm backpacking in winter

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me just start with the colors, it's really not relevant to the function of the tent but I love the classic vintage colors of this tent. Everything about this tent is solid construction. Setup in less than 10 minutes. To use this for backpacking you would need to lighten up a few things. The steaks for instance are solid steel, way to heavy. I'm thinking for warmer months bring a light weight rain fly and ditch the heavy one that comes with it.

Love it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to understand instructions. Set up was very simple. Very good quality material and holds up great in the rain. Would definitely purchase a bigger one in the future but this one was perfect for me and wife to be comfortable in.

Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tent was surprisingly easy to set up. The kids and I tested it with a sleepover in the backyard. It was also easy to take down and store back into the bag. It was more roomy than I expected for such a compact package. It was durable, held up in N Texas wind, and will last over time. We love this and will spend more time camping for sure! I recommend.

Perfect small tent

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this little tent, it's perfect for a solo getaway such in my case or up to three people, which is very accurate in my opinion. The setup was also easy, and it's also very portable. Would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a tent of this size.

Camping Essential

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Eureka El Capitan 3 Outfitter is truly intuitively designed for minimal set up time. It’s a very durable 3 person, 2 door tent that is well vented and constructed with Ripstop Armatech polyfabric that supposedly resists the damaging effects of harsh UV sunlight, although haven’t had it long enough to confirm this. I can confirm that it does offer great wind and rain protection. My only complaint is that it’s a bit on the heavy side, weighing 8lbs, 13 Oz. It’s not something you’d want to keep strapped to your back for long treks. Other than that, I’d recommend it.

Great features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this tent for my son and he just won't stop talking about it. The best features are how many ways you can vent the tent according to the weather. The size and height space is incredible. It was easy to set up and take down and stores nicely in the bag. It literally takes up no room. The creative style and look of the tent is like no other.

Roomy and adventurous!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Omg i absolutely love my tent! Just moved into a new apartment and I don’t have much furniture yet. All I had to do is put it together and throw some big comfy blankets in there, and now I’m set! It’s comfortable and can seat 2 adults and a child comfortably.
