Why We Like The Deuter Ascender 7L Backpack

Made for trail runners, the Deuter Ascender 7L features ergonomoic, vest-style shoulder straps and two adjustable sternum straps for a close-to-body fit that's designed to prevent bouncing and wobbling when we're bounding down the trail. This pack is compatible with a 2-liter water reservoir (not included) and comes with two soft flasks that fit conveniently in the shoulder strap pockets for quick sips on the go. The 7-liter capacity keeps things light and simple, letting us stowe our small essentials securely when we hit the trail running (or hiking).

almost great

Let me start by saying that I bought this backpack more for commuting than trail running Looking for something small and light to carry my work clothes, I usually run about 10 km to the office a few times a week in the summer. I know it's not exactly what it was designed to do, but my issues with this pack are there regardless of discipline. The Good. It's light and comfortable the bad, it's not sweatproof at all. After arriving to work the clothes in my pack are more soaked than the clothes I'm wearing during the run. The back panel and padding seem to suck up all the sweat and distribute evening across everything in the back. The second drawback is the pole holder pouch, so close to being useful, but in my opinion, it's an absolute fail. If you aren't carrying your poles it's just flopping around and being annoying. From what I can tell there is no way for it to be removed. It would be perfect as a phone holder if it wasn't so light and connected to the straps. When you put a phone, but with a phone inside, it's flapping all over the place and hitting my body. I know it was designed for that, but still a missed opportunity. I use one of the flask pockets to hold the phone, and that works quite well, and as it's a short run, I don't need two bottles anyway.

Well made

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very impressed with this backpack. It's the perfect size for shorter distance walks or hikes. It can hold quite a bit of items. very durable material that will last a long time. Came with two flexible plastic water bottles. Straps are all adjustable for the perfect fit. The whole back is padded so nothing pokes or bothers you inside the bag.
