Frost covers the ground on your autumn hike, but the Columbia Women's Benton Springs Full-Zip Fleece Jacket keeps you toasty warm. Non-pilling fleece lasts season after season, and you always have an occasion to wear a nice fuzzy jacket, whether you're hiking, biking, camping, or just making s'mores in the back yard.
Bottom Line: Durable, versatile, and warm—everything a fleece should be.
My mom is one picky lady. She absolutely loves these jackets. She has at least five. She keeps losing weight but still likes the large it keeps her warm all year long. The material is amazing she throws it in the washer and dryer and it holds it's shape and color. I sometimes sneak in her closet and wear one. Mother;s day is coming so I'am back to buy her a different color.
I have a lot of fleece in my jacket collection, This Columbia Springs Jacket has instantly become part of my top 3 in my jacket rotation. The fit is perfect. I like the zippered pockets so I won't lose my keys or phone. It is thick enough to be warm on a cool evening, and loose enough to layer. .

These jackets are simply "AWESOME" - I think I am a collector - I have 9. They are soooooo warm and comfy and the colors & the price are amazing, especially with the free shipping!!
What color is the the Leapfrog? On this page, it looks like a washed-out yellow-green. On another page, it looks like a vibrant neon-ish green (which is what I'd like). Does anyone have any input?!
(((For that matter, the Palm, too. Is it a true, deep grassy green? Or is it more muted? I love vibrant greens!))))
both leapfrog and Palm are close in color but lose some pop in the photos above. The Leapfrog is a rather vibrant yellow/green and the palm is a rich kelly green.
vibrant green = Palm pop yellow with some green = leapfrog
I have this jacket in the winter white and I absolutely love it along with my TNF Denali. I'm a guy and I got it in large. Great jacket and very stylish.
would you say the burnt color is more red or more orange? i have to wear orange for work & would hate to buy this and it be too far off of an orange color to get away with wearing
I bought this as a gift for my daughter. She loves it and says it keeps her warm. She is very particular about her things and I can see future orders of this style in my future as long as it is made by Columbia.
I'm 5'8" and 145 lbs. Would I wear a medium or large? The size charts say large, but I see some reviews saying that the jacket runs on the large side anyway. Thanks!
I think after reading the excellent reviews here, I had too high expectations of that fleece. When I got it in the mail, I was disappointed at first. It is not as soft as I expected. Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice fleece, but it's not from the softest kind. It has medium softness. Also, it is a big bigger than what I expected. I also purchased the Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman Fleece Jacket, which runs smaller and is softer. Now, that Mountain Hardwear fleece is exactly the kind I though the Columbia fleece would be, but again it is also much more expensive. So, for the cost it is a good fleece, but not the softest out there and it runs a bit big. It is also a no frills fleece, without too many details.
Write your question here...I'm torn between the hoodie in Dark Turquiose vs. the collar in Oxide Blue. Can someone pls tell me if the colors are represented well on the website? I realize that different monitors will show colors differently, but am trying to find something in a nice rich-looking, deep blue, that's not too bright. Advice?
i dont know for this specific jacket, but the colors on the website for the items i have ordered in the past are darker and more "flat" looking than the items themselves when i take them out of the box. hope that helps.
Can this fleece work with the 3 in 1 bugaboo jacket? does it interchange with other columbia jackets? I lost my fleece insert and trying to replace with this one.
What is the size difference between the Benton Springs and 3 Rivers Fleece. I'm a small in the 3 Rivers Fleece so would I be a small in Benton Springs?
the Benton Springs touts a heavier, more loosely woven fleece with a roomy cut for everyday use. The Fast Trek is is more fitted with a tighter weave, making it slightly better for layering
I loved this jacket, its so soft and comfy but it runs a little large, I'm 5'5" and 125lbs and bought an Small, I'm returning it and will probably go for an XS
Burnt Henna is a fairly bright "coral red" (more towards tones of orange, rather than a true-blue red). Really pretty and goes with lots of things for a pop of color, but I wouldn't use it as an everyday fleece color. This style is a great weight for year round wear & seems to run true to size for me.
I bought one of these jackets a couple of years back, and wore it quite a bit. So cozy and warm. When I saw them on sale at backcountry.com, I bought 3 more. I really like the colors I ordered, too. Now I'm set for this fall!
One of the reasons I love fleece sweaters and jackets is that they stay looking pretty FOREVER (especially the high-quality variety). It doesn't rip easily, fixes nicely, doesn't attract lint, leaves, water, or wild animals like many other materials do, and it doesn't shed! It's machine washable and ready for anything, from light jogs to backcountry expeditions, ski trips to party hopping.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this jacket. I got the extra small because I am 5'7 and 100 lbs. It fits perfectly. It keeps me warm when I need it but it's not too hot either. I love layering jackets so I'm super excited about layering this with the new carhartt jacket I just bought on Backcountry.com last night.
I'm 5'5 and 135lbs. Both the Med and the Small fit me and my wide climber's shoulders. The small is a little snug on my 39 inch hips, and the medium is a little roomier.
An instant favorite for me. 90-100lbs,5'2" highly recommend in XS. Lots of room under for layering. The fleece is similar to TNF Pumori. Very soft...very lovely. Will definitely buy again.
Write your answer here...It is awesome. Bought one for my grand daughter and was about to buy one for another. I have seen others on sale but backcountry is the least expensive of them all.'Go ahead and buy one------it's worth the $
the fabric that creates the two hand pockets is stitched in a manner that will give you two vertical pockets on the inside. They do not have zipper closures and they will fit something like the shape size of a beer bottle...
... hmmm. wait a minute... going to test it on my wife
Wow, just wow! I love these jackets. I got two of them and wish I got more. They are simple, classic, comfortable, and everything a girl could ask of a warm, but not too warm, fleece jacket! An awesome product.
I got the fleece in coastal color. It is very warm and serves the purpose. I used it during my trip to yellowstone in May. It was 35-45 degrees and it did well as a standalone as well as a layer. It can be easily stashed in a backpack too. It is not wind resistant.
Bought this for my daughter in the green and she loves it. The color is beautiful and it's warm, yet light weight. I bought one in a different color for myself and wear it all the time. We've had a very cool spring so this jacket is perfect.
this is the same MTR fleece that the Benton has been using for a number of seasons. It can be a very warm jacket. I don't know about the price differences
These jackets are quite soft, warm and comfortable. My workplace is very cold that these provide adequate warmth, without being too heavy. These are also well suited for cool mornings when a heavy jacket just isn't necessary. I'm now a collector (6)...Highly recommended!
I am 5'2 and 105lbs. I wear a small but could probably fit in an xsmall. I like to wear my columbia fleeces a little looser so I can layer underneath. When you wash and dry them they do tend to shrink a little. They fit great and I absolutely love them! Great for winter spring and fall! I already have 2 and will be buying more in the future!
Oh boy! I like working with somebody that has done their homework AND knows what they want! All of the colors i see today on the menu are the new, updated silhouettes that you are looking for. The shape is much improved.
I now have a bunch of Columbia's Benton Springs zip fleece jackets. Comfortable & cozy; great color choices. Great fit and versatility. You can't go wrong!
After reading other reviews (and for the price of "last season colors"), I was excited! Unfortunately, the material is not soft at all; I didn't even want to touch it. The sizes are SO big. I am a M-L towards L for layering underneath, and the M was like trying on my mom's jacket when I was 5. Arms too long, went down past my butt, collar covered my face, etc. I sent it back pronto. I really wanted to love this fleece. I love other columbia fleeces/jackets/gear.
I got this for my daughter for Christmas. She loves it! The color is perfect (I got the pink). The customer service was excellent and duper fast shipping!
Just got my fleece today and was surprised by how thin it felt, considering it is supposed to be a midweight fleece. Well, thickness can be deceiving! For its weight and thickness, it is amazingly warm.
Also, I had purchased the Tidewater color. It is more muted than what I saw displayed on my computer screen. It is closer to a grey-ish pale blue than the darkish teal displayed.
This is a great quality fleece for the price. However, it runs big. I normally wear a medium in all tops and jackets, and this was huge in a medium. I tried on a small and it was much better, but I actually could wear the XS just fine. Unless you like a lot of extra room, I would suggest going down a size. The colors were not as vivid as they appear online either, and they're inconsistent within the brand. I got the tarte color for my little girl and it was a beautiful, rich, vivid color. The same tarte color in the women's was a dull, softer, more muted color. Either way, still good for the price.
I wonder if color matters? Or perhaps where it was manufactured? I have the Popsicle and Oxide blue in Medium and both are snug fitting. Unlike the my fleeces from previous years, these are useless for layering.
This product was much lighter than I wanted. In parts of the jacket, the fabric is incredibly thin. I also did not like the shape of the jacket. It sort of balloons out on the bottom.
I only recommend this if you plan on layering a lot.
Like everyone says...yes, it's a great fleece jacket. I'm a Park Ranger and spend a lot of times outdoors and I think this jacket is awesome. It leans towards the lightweight side, works well for a California early spring. Some notes: the sizes do run large. I'm 5'3" and weigh 115 lbs. and the XS is plenty big on me. The jacket is extremely well made. My sister bought me a different brand fleece coat and I couldn't believe she'd paid $100 for it, so I said take it back, and wound up with Columbia's and it was such a good deal I got a second one and so got BOTH jackets for HALF the price of the one she had bought!! I got Black Cherry and Tidewater. Black Cherry is beautiful, about the color of grape soda, deep purple but not too dark. Tidewater is blue-ish grey with a hint of green. That's my Mexico travel coat! The fleece is sturdy, I haven't washed them yet but looks like they will hold up well. Fitted but not tight. Buy it and love it!
I've purchased the Benton Springs in Popsicle and Oxide blue and both run SMALL compared to my Columbia fleece jackets from previous years. The Benton Springs model is more fitted at the side torso and arms. I usually like to layer but it's just about impossible with the Benton Springs! It's impossible to layer a hoodie under this fleece and engage in any kind of activity. It's very restrictive! A bra and thin t-shirt is all I'd be able to layer under this "jacket". I usually wear a medium and have a slender frame (34c) but will have to size up if using this jacket for layering. I like practical outdoor clothing, looking sleek and stylish is low on my list of needs for outdoor clothing. I'm very disappointed and will NOT purchase Columbia fleece jackets unless I can try them on first.
