Black Diamond Trail Zip 14L Backpack
Designed to carry everything you need for a daylong mission in the mountains, the Trail Zip 14L is the pack to grab for ridge scrambles, bagging 14ers, or traveling light. With 14 liters accessible by zippered access, the Trail Zip 14L also features dedicated Z-pole sleeves to stash trekking poles, and our signature BDFlash pocket specifically designed for headlamp storage, keeping you safe and visible. An internal stash pocket stores your wallet and keys, while four connection loops along the backpanel allow the Trail Zip14L to securely attach to another larger pack so you can have a quick-detachable summit pack while out on bigger adventures.

Nice pack but it is missing FEATURES?
The tag on the bag says " Common Features (speaking about the "TRAIL ZIP SERIES 14 & 18") include high-flow open-air back panels, shoulder straps and waistbelts, trekking pole and ice axe loops and bike light clips. I do not have a waistbelt and a light clip. Checking the pics online for "14" there are not there either. So is the tag on the bag mis leading???

Great Little Pack
Works wonderfully as a small daypack, can fit a water bottle and a light jacket. Also can be used as a running pack but not as stable as a vest style pack.

too bulky for summit pack
I like the concept but this pack was a bit too bulky to pack into my backpack just for summit climbs.

great little pack
Perfect size for an easy day hike. Nearly weightless, but still very comfortable carrying up to about 5kg. The suspension is surprisingly good- for such a minimalist construction it doesn't dig into my shoulders or flop about. The shoulder straps are awfully long, however.

Spot on!
Sold my Osprey Daylite and in the process of selling some other Osprey stuff so I can pay for more BD packs. The Trail Zip is tough but very lightweight. Zips work well. Roomy enough for a day hike with accommodations for a hydration bladder. Also love the BD logo on the back and the lettering on the side. Awesome pack!

Exactly what I wanted!
I was looking for a day pack for afternoon hikes, and something I could toss into my large pack when needed. The Trail Zip is perfect for that role! It weighs absolutely nothing, supports a hydration bladder well, has a great trekking pole spot, and has a small zip pocket so I don’t lose my lighter and headlamp in the bottom of the pack. 10/10 (I only got it recently, as of this review, so durability seems good but I can’t say for sure yet)

Great little bag for a day hike or aid your adventure from the base camp
I have the trail blitz 12, while I love it for its ultra compact size and ability to strap thing on the top, my wife has a mixed feeling about it. Mainly because it is not the easiest to take things in and out with the draw string and top strap system, I get it. So I got her this, which she loves it, The zipper top gives a much friendlier access to the main compartment, and the bag is slightly bigger to fit in puffy jacket and such. The thing I envy this bag the most is the shoulder strap, it is much wider and breathable than my trail blitz 12. Well, they each have their pro and con, but definitely happy with both purchase.

Handy bag

Use it mostly for a drop bag in ultras. Water repellent and small, but packs more than you think!
