Why We Like The Black Diamond Solano Heated Mitten
The Black Diamond Solano Mitts deploy supplemental battery-powered heat to keep you going lap after lap. Inside, we've upgraded our low-profile and fully rechargeable heating system using the premise of countercurrent exchange-the transfer of heat through orienting the heat source perpendicular to the blood flow in the wrist. The heating element now wraps around the inside of the wrist, which increases the mitt's warmth and your body's ability to warm itself. This system includes three-levels of heat that are controllable via an integrated LED switch. On the exterior of the mitts, a premium goat leather shell backed up by a fully waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX insert stands up to the rigors of long days on the mountain in variable conditions. We've also increased the PrimaLoft Gold insulation on the back of the hand and added PrimaLoft Gold to the palm with Grip Control for better control while skiing. A zippered carrying case and included outlet adapters make for easy storage and charging while traveling.

Love’em
I’ve been struggling with cold hands for years. This year decided to make the jump from instant handwarmers to these, and I love them!

Immediate failure
One of the batteries was Dead on Arrival and have to wait up to 3 weeks for a warranty claim to be processed. Not stoked. The gloves themselves are excellent quality as one would expect from BD, however one would expect a brand new heated glove to turn on.

Solano = Numero Uno
I Love them. After getting frost bite years ago skiing in Canada my hands just hurt when they're cold. The Solano mitten eleviates the problem. My hands start and stay warm throughout the ski day.

One year and the right mit no longer works
I purchased my mittens a year ago and now that the warranty if up the right mit no longer works. The store where I purchased them no longer carries them because they said there were too many returns because they stop working frequently. This is a great deal of money for one year of product use.

Great warmth, wish they lasted longer at the higher temp
Use these for winter hiking and skiing! Feel protected from the wind and they heat up quickly. Just can't take them out for a full ski day at the highest temp as they only last for half a day, so I cycle between each level.

Finally
Finally have a mitten that fits and is warm. The heater lasts all day on the slopes but they are warm around town without it. Fit tight at wrist and roomy for hands. Comfortable.

Lasted 2 seasons with very minimal use
In the beginning they were great when I needed them. This weekend one of the gloves stopped working and BD only warranties gloves for a year. They aren’t very comfortable, as said in previous reviews the battery is very bulky under your wrist. Overall unimpressed and upset about the cost of the gloves because now they are useless.

Great warmth, but poor charging
I bought a pair of mitts for my husband December, 2019. He has a rare congenital heart defect resulting in 2 open heart surgeries, and has a pacemaker/ICD. He is a very fit avid nordic skier, winter studded fat tire rider and back country skier with very poor circulation. These mitts have been a godsend for him. When his Solano mitts are finished charging the light will turn green. He bought me Solano mitts December 2020, I have used them about 10x. I have to be conservative when I use them because I never know if they are fully charged. My charger light stays red, even if the mitts are plugged in for 24 hours! Black Diamond, I hope you will help us with this problem without having to pay more because these mitts are EXPENSIVE!!!!!! for this sort of performance. 5 stars for my husbands mitts, 1 for mine due to the charging situation.
