Even if you were never a scout, you'll recognize the old-school camp style of the Big Agnes Scout Plus UL 2-Person 3-Season Tent. It's not your classic canvas number, though—this ultralight shelter weighs in at under two pounds, has mesh panels to keep the air moving, and uses PU- and silicone-coated ripstop nylon and taped seams to keep you dry in a way those canvas army tents never could. It pitches using two trekking poles (one in the front and one in the rear) so don't forget to bring them with you, and a series of stakes, saving you from having to carry tent poles and a heavy rain fly. There are eaves that cover the mesh vents, and even a front vestibule to keep boots and packs out of the tent and the rain.
