Prepare for your summer alpine assault and pack up the Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2, an ultralight two-person tent, before you take the long trail well above the treeline. Even if the weather doesn't cooperate, this sturdy, roomy three-season shelter can keep you and a partner out of the elements and comfortable with its double-door, double-vestibule design.
Two doors and two vestibules so no one has to crawl over the other person's sleeping area, and you have plenty of room to shelter packs and pooches
Polyurethane-coated floor and fly help rain bead off instead of soaking you and your gear inside
All the tent's seams are taped (without using ecologically harmful solvents such as PVC or VOC) to eliminate rain penetration during rainstorms
Aluminum DAC Featherlite NSL pole system provides amazing strength and durability without weighing down your pack
All Big Agnes tents feature poles made with DAC's Green Anodizing process, which eliminates the chemical polishing stage, reduces the need for hazardous chemicals, and recycles water throughout the rinsing process
Simple design uses press-fit connectors, hubs, and clips that are easy to assemble, while reflective details on guy lines and webbing keep the tent visible in the dark
Breathable mesh walls fight condensation during humid nights
Fast Fly pitching option lets you carry just the poles, fly, and footprint (sold separately) for a lightweight (2lb 8oz) trek in mild climates
Vestibules can be closed completely with zippers and storm flaps, but the sides also roll up to use the space for gear storage and shade
Mesh storage pockets hold your headlamp and a map after you and your companion finish planning the next day's trail assault
Bottom Line: Travel fast and light, and then sleep like a baby.
Just tried this tent out for the first time. Loved it.
Easy setup. If you've ever put a tent together, this one is by far the easiest.
Size was great. I'm 245 lbs, 5'11, 54" shoulders and I fit in fine. Looks a little small when you first climb in, but when you slide over to the side, you can easily see how another person could fit nicely. I'd recommend this for couples, though I'd probably make another male carry his own tent : P.
Great Ventilation obviously. Thing I really like about this model is the privacy wall around the edge. Blocks the draft nicely, adds privacy from other tents, while not obstructing your upward view at all.
If you put the fly up, I recommend staking out the guy lines to improve the ventilation gap between walls. Otherwise sleep without the fly as much as possible.
I was torn between the Fly Creek UL2 and the Copper Spur UL2. I decided that I would love the Copper Spur for the extra room, but wanted to try out the Fly Creek for the smaller size and weight. I figured that if I could live with the smaller one (fly creek), then great, but if not, I'd swap it out for the bigger one (copper spur)...well it only took one trip for me to return it for the Copper Spur.
In the middle of torrential rains, the Fly Creek let me down because of a major design flaw. The Vestibule door peak hangs over the inside of the tent, so any water on the fly rolls in to the tent and on to you/ your bag/ pillow when you open the vestibule to get in or out...NOT GOOD!! That was reason enough for me to switch it out for the Copper Spur and I am glad that I did. There were a few other things that I wasn't completely sold on it either, that the Copper Spur more than fixes.
The extra weight of the Copper Spur when compared to the Fly Creek is marginal, and the packed size is still ridiculously small. This tent also has a much more free standing structure than the fly creek which is great when you don't use the fly. I am extremely happy I made the trade to this tent, and the wife appreciates the extra room (side to side and sit up) and a separate vestibule/ door too!
We have used the fast fly setup as a little shelter on the beach and it works awesome!
Love this tent. We also have the Fly Creek, which is 1 lb lighter and is smaller in the pack. Very happy with both tents. The Copper Spur opens on both sides, so it's easier for two people.

i haven't had a tent since i was a boy scout .........set up was easy then Now i've got two left hands withouth thumbs fumbling with the set up .......... Any advice on a good sequence ? Many thanks
Same basic deal as always: spread the footprint, spread the shell, clip in the poles, add the fly, stretch and stake it all out starting at the primary corners, fill in the other stakes, pull out and stake the guy lines as needed...boom, pitched tent in a matter of minutes. Or, do like I do and since it's a 3-person tent, make someone else do it. I actually bore children for just this type of thing.
Love this tent. Picked it up for backpacking, but have only used it car camping thus far. Ridiculously easy to assemble, helps to have 2 people setting it up, but can be assembled solo without too much trouble. Love the design and double door access. (No more stumbling over your partner in the night to take a wee).
Myself and my boyfriend are pretty small in stature, so we find that this tent is pretty spacious. We can fit a small gear bag each, in addition to having plenty of sleeping room.
I struggled with whether to go with a BA Fly Creek, MSR Hubba, or BA Copper Spur and then debated about ul1 or ul2. Decided to go with the ul2 in case the wife decides to go. When I crawled in a Fly Creek the length just wasn't there for me. I'm 6'1" and need some room. Can't say enough good things about the Copper Spur. During my last outing the winds were sustained 20 mph with 40 mph gusts and the temp dropped down to 18F. Too cold for a 3-season tent, but actually this thing held up like a champ and in a 30F down bag, I stayed warm. The winds didn't budge this baby. Lovely tent, quick set up, mansion-like room inside for 1 person. I do wish it had a bottom zipper but that isn't a deal breaker for me. With footprint added, you are approaching 3 1/2 - 4 lbs for a 2-person tent. But it's a free-standing 2 person tent that can stand up to the elements and one in which a 6'+ guy can stretch out. Watch for a sale, and then bite on this one. Nearly the perfect tent. While it does not have a gear loft (optional purchase) it does have gear pockets in the corner for my light, phone, glasses, etc. without the extra weight of a larger gear loft. I'm incredibly happy with this purchase.
Well she did it! Big Agnes decided I didn't need to sleep in a bivy anymore when I go out bikepacking. My trail weight is a bit more than 3lb 2 oz, but what a castle for one. Even with two people there is enough room for all your gear in the vestibules. I am 6'3" and I can fully stretch out on my long NeoAir pad. I added the wall gear loft and the footprint and it will still pack down to 6 X 18 in. Very cool! I love this tent a lot more than Lexi does!
