Berghaus designed its Men's Ramche Down Jacket for the first ascent of the 20,702 ft. Mugu Chuli in the Himalayas. As seen through its design, the Ramche Down Jacket is equipped to withstand some of the most cold and harsh environments in the world with a breathable and durable Pertex Quantum GL fabric, hydrophobic down fill, and body-mapped construction. Pertex Quantum fabric is water-resistant, breathable, and composed of gossamer weight ten-denier yarns to prevent down loss. Berghaus's Hydrodown fill is treated to resist moisture, making it superior to traditional down-fill jackets.
Where the Ramche really stands apart, though, is through its Mtnhaus body-mapped construction, which uses offset baffles through the body of the jacket to reduce heat loss and enhance the thermal efficiency of the jacket. Box baffles at the upper arms further reduce heat loss, while stitch-through baffles along the underarms help to maximize freedom of movement for the ascent. The hood is both fully-adjustable and helmet-compatible and laminated with a brim for extra protection from the elements. The Ramche weighs in right around 16oz (448g) and is highly compressible due to the down fill. The jacket comes with a mesh stuff sack, so you can easily bring it along whether you're ski touring the Haute route, or pushing for a first ascent of your own.
