Description

A boot that marries top-tier technology with a precise fit designed specifically for skate skiing.

While the Atomic Sport Skate Boot does borrow performance features like precision and control from its big brother (the Sport Pro Skate boot), it also takes comfort into account. Its Sport Fit measures 104mm compared to the 102mm High-Performance Fit of the race and performance boots, and it trades a ratcheting buckle cuff closure in favor of a more flexible hook-and-loop power strap. All together, this results in a boot that provides direct power transfer from ankle to toes and delivers a fit that's snug enough around the mid and forefoot without feeling restrictive. And at just 22 grams heavier than the WorldCup Skate boot (the fully race-bred boot at the top of the performance tier), the Sport Skate is still light enough to let you move fast.

And what of the flex? The Sport Skate Boot features a skate-specific flex that's more rigid than a classic flex but more forgiving than a full-blown race-style design. Atomic designed this boot as such because it understood that you want a boot for enjoying the ride and simply working up a sweat, but one that will still deliver power and support your foot when you try your hand at an all-out sprint.

  • Compared to low, soft-cuff designs, the rigid ankle cuff improves overall lateral stability and ankle support
  • Atomic included a soft cuff insert that takes takes away the bite of the cuff closure when you have to really cinch the ratchet buckle down tight
  • Hook-and-loop power strap provides a secure cuff closure that helps to transfer power from your forward lean down into the chassis of the boot
  • Forefoot construction allows you to precisely adjust the lateral fit around your arch and just below your instep—rather than depending on a single front-lacing system, this construction ensures that you can customize the fit with more depth
  • Dual lace system simultaneously secures the heel and balances the instep fit with the pull of a single cord, minimizing foot movement and ensuring the best balance of fore and aft comfort
  • Atomic's sport fit features a 104mm width that strikes a balance between close fit and all-day comfort—you get an improved boot feel, room to move your toes or wear thicker socks, and there's minimal sacrifice of performance for comfort
  • Skating flex makes the sole of this boot rigid enough to transfer your power when you're skating and just flexible enough to make it more comfortable than the Race flex WorldCup boot
  • Boot use a full-length sole groove that interfaces with a full-length binding ridge in SNS bindings to help you maintain precise control of the skis through the glide phase
  • This guide ridge further improves ski control by eliminating the opportunity for the boot to slip off the binding plate during the glide phase
  • SNS Pilot 2 Equipe outsole is compatible with SNS Pilot bindings or SNS Propulse Bindings. SNS Pilot Race or Propulse bindings use a rigid or soft link behind the toe pivot to interface with a metal bar behind the toe-binding bar. This link improves lateral ski control by creating a secondary, floating connection between the boot sole and the binding.

Anyone know if this boot runs snug? I'm a size 8 or 8.5 (US women) and trying to decide between UK 6 or UK7

Hi Lisa, the boot is known for the volume inside. It works great for folks with wide feet who need extra volume. I just got a pair that compare to 8.5 mens US which is my size (8 mens UK) and I'm finding them a big too big, despite my wide feet. So, I'd go with the smaller size of the two if I were you. Besides that, these are GREAT boots. Enjoy,
Claudia
