    Zeal Optics Ellume Challenge

Zeal set out to put our ellume lenses to the test in our backyard of Boulder, CO. A quick stop on Pearl Street Mall and Chautauqua Park proved to be the perfect sun-drenched testing grounds to demonstrate the color-enhancing clarity and craftsmanship in our plant-based, polarized lenses. Don't take our word for it; see for yourself.

    Crowley Sunglasses By Zeal Optics

In 1905, Aleister Crowley, the renowned author, philosopher and occultist, set off to climb Kanchenjunga, the world’s third highest mountain at 28,169 feet in Nepal. While the attempt ultimately resulted in failure, it cemented Crowley’s belief in the power of the mountains as living, breathing entities, that inspired his philosophies and writings, which went on to influence much of the 20th Century’s counter-culture. Crowley’s approach to mountaineering and life, was driven by a stylistic approach to pushing the limits. Meanwhile, in 1911, on the eastern slope of Colorado, Crowley County was born, with exceptional views that inspire us at Zeal Optics. A classic with a twist, our new CROWLEY plant-based polarized sunglasses combine round styling, smooth lines and a keyhole bridge for a unique breed of fashion-meets-function.

    they stay on!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased and returned at least seven pairs of sunglasses before I found these. As soon as I put them on I could tell they were the ones. They stay put on my face, even when I completely bend over with them on. The lens is obviously a great quality, and the overall design is super cute. These are sporty enough to wear ski touring and hiking, but also adorable enough to wear casually. Give them a try!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review Is my personal opinion: Awesome shades! I took these on a few days hikes, some jogs around the city and some long drives. They are unscathed - although I did have to clean some sunscreen off the frames.

These Zeal Crowley Polarized Sunglasses were light but didn'€™t feel like they would fall off if I swung my head around really fast to try to spot a critter running by or see if one of my friend'€™s who just let out a yelp and send some rocks sliding was alright. They also passed the "bend over and look at the ground while tying my shoes"€ test. In addition to whatever technology Zeal says they'€™ve got going on at the temples, there'€™s a lining under the nose bridge that is undetectable to the touch but looks like it€'s what kept these Zeal Crowley Polarized Sunglasses from sliding around even when I was huffing, puffing and sweating a lot.

Visibility in the Bay Area is really hit or miss, but even on foggy days there'€™s like a glare that makes me squint sometimes. Whether I was wearing the Zeal Crowley Polarized Sunglasses in direct sun, overcast conditions or driving in the car, I could see really clearly - and also my phone screen color was clear and accurate (very important for the GPS-reading and photo ops)

From the photo, you might be thinking: whoa, those make her nose look big. No, I just have quite the schnoz and all these flowers that are blooming are really pretty but wreaking some havoc on the allergies. These are a different shape of sunglasses than I usually wear and it was fun to mix it up and once I got used to the fit and feel they became my go-to pair.

Also, these worked great as a headband. Like when you put your glasses on top of your head to stop your hair blowing around but didn't stay on as good when I put them on the bill of a trucker hat. Not that that is what they'€™re designed for but just a heads up.
