As the most advanced offering within Zamberlan's line of Italian-crafted backpacking boots, the Zamberlan Men's Guide GTX RR Backpacking Boot cruises over the formidable terrain like a four-wheel drive assault vehicle. Whether you're backpacking along the Pacific Crest or ticking off a Colorado 14er from your peak-bagging list, the Guide GTX RR offers equal parts rugged durability and unrelenting grip. Perhaps its most impressive feature, the Vibram StarTek sole delivers gobs of traction for treading over slippery trails after a soaking rain, climbing steep summits, and braking with control on sketchy descents.

Anyone who's spent serious time in the wilderness can attest to the importance of dry feet, especially when you're hiking for long distances across demanding trails. Fulfilling this need for pleasantly dry feet, the Gore-Tex membrane offers industry-leading waterproof, breathable protection from shallow stream crossings, pouring rain, and soaking-wet trails. Following suit, Hydrobloc Tuscan nubuck leather provides a tough-wearing and waterproof buffer against craggy outcroppings, mucky trail conditions, and thick forest vegetation.

Solidifying its top-shelf design, the newest Zamberlan technical backing last serves up a more precise fit, ensuring mobility and sure-footed prowess. Another stand-out feature, the 3/4 rubber rand system (RRS) prevents sports a beveled edge that prevents snagging on trip-causing debris. Also, there's a stabilizing TPU plate that keeps rugged terrain from bruising your feet, especially when you're wearing a heavy pack.

I took these hunting in the Bitteroot Forest. Spent 5 days in 2-3 feet of snow. My feet did not get cold or wet. Traction was great. Keep them conditioned with zam spray. Do not use lotion on these. Best boot I have ever owned.

My hiking buddy has had a pair of these for years and absolutely swears by them. i have been trying to buy a pair for a couple years and when they finally arrived i immediately fell in love with them as well. After 5 years my buddies pair still looks brand new! With the option of resoling around I feel confident in saying i will be set for my hiking trips for several years to come.

Great, supportive boot!

I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Gave as a gift, here's what they had to say: Excellent fit and foot support. High quality product with very supportive sole. Construction is solid and boot seems reasonably warm without being a winter-specific boot.

This is a great boot. The workmanship is great. The seems are beautiful and the boot fits right on the money. I wear a 10 and the 10D is perfect. I have been breaking them in for hunting trip next month. Make sure to use Zamberlan spray conditioner not the lotion. It’s specific to the leather. Also no offense to the gear heads but none had a clue about this boot so I wanted to wait about a month before writing a review. Haven’t found the gearheads to be useful at all so far and have made several product inquiry’s. Zamberlans speak for them selves anyway. The only issue I think most would have is if they don’t get the right size. Even the laces lock in for snug lacing. They do tend to push your calf at upwards angle as if your hiking up hill which is great on the mountain but not to drive in.

...I couldn't get a good fit. The back half of the boot fit great, but the forefoot was just a bit too narrow. I get a good fit in Salomon 4D GTX boots, but am sick of the goretex wearing out in a year, and the boot following a year later -2 years out of $200 boots doesn't cut it. So I'm looking for re-sole able leather boots and tried these - close, but no deal. I just got a pair of Scarpa SL Activ boots from BC.com and will be keeping them. All leather, no goretex, and a comfortably wide forefoot.

I got these boots to wear for my season as a backcountry ranger in Rocky Mountain NP. If you need a heavy, sturdy hiking/work boot, these are what you're looking for. I've worn them for everything from felling trees to peak bagging and they never disappoint. The leather is resilient and super comfortable after breaking them in. They're great in strap-on crampons and I've done some low fifth class climbing in them too. Mine started to have some damage to the sole towards the end of my season, but that's probably to be expected after you put 500 hundred-ish miles of hiking and then work into a boot. Overall great quality from Zamberlan on this one.

Evan, thanks for the comments. I have been wondering about and looking at this boot for a long time. Could you please discuss the shape of your foot. I need something wide in the toe box and narrow in the heel. Thanks.
